2,500-Year-Old Egyptian Mummy Uncovered on Live TV
“Expedition Unknown: Egypt Live” aired Sunday night from the site outside Minya along the Nile River, where archeologists recently discovered a network of vertical shafts leading to tunnels and tombs containing 40 mummies “believed to be part of the noble elite.”

One was the well-preserved mummy of a powerful priest, wrapped in linen and decorated with a golden figure depicting the ancient goddess Isis. Gates said the mummy was that of a high priest of Thoth, the ancient Egyptian god of wisdom and magic.

“Toward the end of Ancient Egypt, the power really was with the high priests and you can see this… almost feels like a royal burial,” Gates said. The team opened two other sarcophagi, one containing a female mummy decorated with blue beads and another with a father in a family tomb.

They also found a rare wax head.

Richard Cole, Last WWII Doolittle Raider, Dies in Texas

Retired Lt. Col. Richard "Dick" Cole, the last of the 80 Doolittle Tokyo Raiders who carried out the daring U.S. attack on Japan during World War II, died Tuesday at a military hospital in Texas. He was 103.

The Raiders launched their assault April 18, 1942, in B-25 bombers from the USS Hornet. Suspecting they had been detected by Japanese patrols, they left farther away from Japan than planned. The crews of the 16 planes were "very quiet" as they neared Japan, Cole recalled, saying his role next to Doolittle was to "be seen, not heard. ... You didn't speak until spoken to." But the country song "Wabash Cannonball" started running through his head and he unconsciously began tapping his toe, which caught Doolittle's attention. He shot Cole a look, he recalled with a laugh.

Doolittle soon ordered bomb bay doors opened, and the attack was on against what turned out to be limited anti-aircraft fire in the surprise attack. They then headed to China, running out of fuel. Cole said Doolittle gave the command to prepare to bail out as they neared the coast, adding: "I wish you all good luck."

Cole said it was scary to parachute into a dark "unknown" in rough weather. His parachute caught in a tree, leaving him dangling but safe. Chinese partisans helped lead him and other Raiders to safety. Three Raiders died trying to reach China, and eight were captured by Japanese soldiers. Three were executed, and a fourth died in captivity.

An image of a black hole has been captured for first time
“We’ve been studying black holes so long, sometimes it’s easy to forget that none of us have actually seen one,” France Córdova, director of the National Science Foundation, said in the Washington, D.C., news conference. Seeing one “is a Herculean task,” she said.

That's because black holes are notoriously hard to see. Their gravity is so extreme that nothing, not even light, can escape across the boundary at a black hole's edge, known as the event horizon. But some black holes, especially supermassive ones dwelling in galaxies’ centers, stand out by voraciously accreting bright disks of gas and other material. The EHT image reveals the shadow of M87’s black hole on its accretion disk. Appearing as a fuzzy, asymmetrical ring, it unveils for the first time a dark abyss of one of the universe’s most mysterious objects.

“It’s been such a buildup,” Doeleman said. “It was just astonishment and wonder… to know that you’ve uncovered a part of the universe that was off limits to us.”

Woman wanted in Pennsylvania caught after taunting authorities on ‘Most Wanted’ post
By Louis Casiano | Fox News

Chloe Jones attempted to taunt authorities with a comment on a "Top Ten Most Wanted List" Facebook post, cops said. (Greene County Sheriff's Office / Facebook)
A Pennsylvania woman’s apparent attempt at taunting authorities on a Facebook post about her being wanted backfired Tuesday when she was nabbed after giving up her location.
Chloe Jones was put on the Greene County Sheriff's Office 'Top Ten Most Wanted List,' on March 27 for failing to appear in court over assault charges. Last week, she apparently commented on the department’s Facebook post about the list, writing “Do you do pick up or delivery??”

While arguing with other commenters, she mentioned she was in a hospital in Morgantown, W. Va., WDTV in Bridgeport reported. With tips from residents in both states, Morgantown police took Jones into custody and extradited her to Pennsylvania.

"Ms. Chloe Jones and her witty comments are taking a hiatus from our Facebook comments section due to the jail not having internet for her to use," the Greene County Sheriff's Office posted to its Facebook page after her arrest.
Jones was not listed under the inmate logs at the Green County jail Thursday morning.
