The Sphere is the shit. Even the movie they play there is worth seeing.
Seconded , The Sphere is unlike anything you will see anywhere. The movie 'Post Card from Earth' is awesome!
I live in the area now but my top pics are
Sphere
Fremont street experience at night
Hoover Dam (if you are into infrastructure)
Red Rock Canyon - even the drive through part is nice with lots of hiking / biking areas

Thank - we booked the sphere tomorrow and we’ll definitely go to Fremont street.
Any good restaurants also ?

Only restaurants I went to on the strip were at the Tropicana and it's shut down (may be torn down now been a min since I've been to the strip). Hell I usually go to Chili's off the strip.

I know I'm late but Hash House is always a classic breakfast stop. Absurd over the top breakfast. Wolfgang Puck's restaurant in the MGM is good too.

Other than that I like all the nicer places. Joe's Stone Crab, Le Cirque. Vegas fine dining is great.

thanks all for the tips.
We went to the Sphere, saw Postcard from Earth and it was nice, even though I felt like the potential of the screen was not 100% used.
Fremont street was also very nice, much more chill than the Strip.

Bump.

You know what I didn't think I'd care for but ended up really liking? The Hoover Dam.

Maybe I've just watched too many engineering YouTube videos, but the dumb thing is just amazing.

Don't bring your girl.

Hoover Dam, Mt, Charleston, Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon. All based. Fuck the city itself.

When we went to Vegas in '12 my favorite things were the hoover dam, Red Rock Canyon, Fremont Street Experience at night, and the Olympian show in the mall at Cesar's Palace (near Cheese Cake Factory - not sure what the actual show was called but it was free and it was in the common area of the mall). I didn't give 2 shits about the rest of the place. BUT - I don't gamble / drink / smoke AND my back went out so bad while we were there I could not leave my room for 2 days. Weird that we wound up moving to this area later in life but life is a funny business.

Now that I'm a 'local' (live in Nevada) my favorite places are The hoover dam, Death Valley Park, Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, & Ash Meadows nature preserve. I also disagree about not bringing your girl, it depends on the girl. My wife and MIL both loved the Dam park and the exhibit center.

Also, and I am not joking here, EVERYONE needs to experience the Sphere. It's like IMAX on steroids. I'm actually looking forward to the remake of the Wizard of Oz that's supposed to start this month. That's assuming they didn't totally fuck it up.

EDIT: Fuck I didn't realize I'm repeating myself - damn thread necro!

I’m there on 2 weeks for our fantasy draft party at Circa. I’m more excited to take everyone around for my IRL new Vegas tour I’ve been doing since 2010.
Anyone around we will be doing Goodsprings as well.

I went last year. I did like the sphere. I saw the U2 movie even though I'm not a big U2 fan and it was excellent. That 180 degree screen or whatever you call it is super immersive and the 3D is spectacular. Freemont was a lot more gentrified than I remember it. All cleaned up now when before it was pretty sketchy. I took a side trip to pawn stars that I wouldn't recommend. It's in a run down area and the store is pretty underwhelming. It's definitely worth renting a car and touring red rock canyon or valley of fire. Hoover dam is what it is, cool landmark but I had more fun chasing the petroglyphs and rock formations. It's no wonder they film so much stuff out there. Some of those canyon trails look like you're on another planet. Very Martian feeling.

I agree it’s fine with your girl. One of my best memories (that still gets talked about) is my wife and I were hiking mouse trap trail in valley of fire. We get to this spot that’s just red walls on either side of the trail, nice soft sandy part of the trail. We stop for a moment and she says with a look of awe “Wow, listen to how quiet it is here, there’s no noise. This is incredible.” And I stop, listen for a second and say “Yeah, so peaceful.” Then rip the loudest, deepest fart and shatter the silence, echoing off the canyon walls. The look of horror and laughter on her face was priceless.

The electrical outfit I worked for when I first go to the area did that container park beside pawn stars. I don't watch a lot of TV (other than NFL) so I had no idea why the place was so popular. We had a meeting at the BBQ place in the container park and this bald guy comes over says he's the owner. My relatives were like 'how was he , is he cool , etc' cuz they knew who he was. I said he was another pain in the ass owner that didn't know WTF he wanted.
If you think Fremont is gentrified, go to the non-built up place....during the day.

Lol
Yeah we did a “detour” off the main trail to go piss and was right next to a rattle snake. That would have sucked if I wasn’t paying attention.

We are doing this as well at Area 15

It opens up next week.

Hope you enjoy. Company I worked for did the Omega - Meow Wolf exhibit there. I went there for my birthday one year. It was a huge nothingburger - to me. My opinion seems to not be popular though.
