Might not be new content(pretty sure some of that is though), but they've started full steam promotion. Just as preorders opened, coincidentally. Game releases in like 5months, yet news of it were being spammed everywhere, even though there's very little actual info, aka promotion.

Not saying the game will be bad or that I don't like it, think it looks pretty cool, it's just fucking annoying to see it everywhere even though it's nowhere near release and that shit happens a lot lately, then when it eventually releases most people are completely disapointed because they believed in the hype for so long.

Might just be nostalgia (I doubt it), but I had a fucking blast with Two Towers on PS2. Return of the King was more of the same, but still very much fun. Battle for Middle Earth 2 was great. The newest multiplayer hack n' slash was kind of a boring shitfest, though.

This is one of the few games I am excited for, shame it's still so far off.

I stand corrected there are some new things... Though 5 months out isn't really that long... We got a trailer for guardians of the galaxy after a week of filming for example.

Only played one lotr game, Third Age and it was awesome.

So uh besides that one troll, are there any variety to the enemies or is it mass orc death all day ery day

looks like goblins and orcs will be standard fare with some trolls and wargs thrown in for flavor.

In addition to the orcs, goblins, worgs and trolls we have seen there was almost some end-boss fella who looked like a lich or a black Numanorean (sp) of some sort. So, you can probably bank on the fact he will have black uruks or other evil men as bodyguards that you will have to fight through.

Current theories are that the wraith is either isildur or gil-galad. The wraith looks a bit elven but wraiths sort of look elven anyways so that could just be style.

Kinda surprised we don't have anyone foaming at the mouth with rage yet after the reveal that the wraith is Celebrimbor.

Why would people rage? Not knowing what the story in Shadow of Mordor is, I would assume Celebrimbor acts as a helper to guide you ...? So this could be kind of a redemption story for Celebrimbor because he fucked up with the making of the rings and all.

I hope I am remembering my Tolkien lore properly, am I way off?

Yeah that's about it. Him wanting revenge on Sauron and so on.

But we have some pretty hardcore Tolkien fans who tend to despise anything not canon here.

Pretty much every LOTR video game has been some sort of departure from canon, so why would hardcore Tolkien fans be up in arms about this? If anything, I think it's pretty cool that they used Celebrimdor instead of just some random ass ghost. If anyone would have a grudge against Sauron, it would be the guy Sauron tricked into making the rings and then tortured to death for their locations.

If it makes sense then it's fine. Celebrimbor is internally consistent so there's no need for rage... Yet.

This releases next week I believe.

3 hour presentation below (warning, fairly talkative/annoying commentators)

Lots of advertising going on now, and letting people play it for hours as demos/reviews gives me hopes that the game is as large/open as they marketed it as when first building the hype.

This always seemed to me like Force Unleashed: Middle Earth version.

seems more like Assassins Lord of the Creed, but the reviews are really good so I'm gonna try it out on PS4. Be interesting to hear how the PC port is

its ironic that its cheaper for me now to play new PS4 games than buy new PC games, if I buy at stores and trade them in asap.

Sort of. I think you can get the PC version for ~$21 from traders though, with no need to burn through it and trade it :p

I read a review that made the nemesis system sound pretty awesome and fresh, because it's very open-worldy (you chose how you go at problems), very emergent-behavioury (there is a wealth of things that are interconnected in obvious and less obvious ways) and it makes sure it does not feel like bland algo-writting (the nemesis are hand designed and as such become more than random_orc_boss65).
