Heyward to the Cubs. Right under $200 million apparently. They will probably be looking to move Soler, probably in another Castro type dump. Could be a really good bargain deal for a high ceiling young player. Cubs get even better, they have to be my favorite out of the National League now.

Predictions: Cespedes & Murphy to the Angels, Chen to the Cards, Leake & Upton to the Giants. Now that Heyward is off the Rockies OFs should start getting moved as well. Still praying to the baseball God's that the Indians get desperate for an OF and move Carrasco/Salazar in a favorable deal to the Yanks. Dreamers can dream right? Kluber, Carrasco, Salazar & Bauer. Share the love!

Orioles offer Davis 150 mil. Nah, he wants 200 mil. That's way too much cash to strike out 2 of every 4 at bats.

But if he gets you a homerun in 1 of that 4 and gets on base in that remaining PA, isnt it worth it?

SF Giants to sign Johnny Cueto

The Giants have made their second significant rotation splash of the offseason, announcing on Monday that they've agreed to a six-year contract with right-hander Johnny Cueto, pending a physical. The Bryce Dixon client will reportedly receive a $130MM guarantee and an opt-out clause after two seasons. The contract is said to pay Cueto $46MM prior to the opt-out and also contains a club option for a seventh season, should Cueto elect not to opt out.

If a guy hit a home run 25% of the time and walked another 25% of the time he would be the greatest hitter in the history of the game. Are you saying that's what you think Chris Davis is?

Doesn't look like that great of a haul honestly. Reds are going to be shitty for a long time. Baseball sucks when your team is shitty.

Baseball really needs a salary cap. It's ridiculous seeing teams spend 4-5x as much as other teams

Not really. Baseball continues to have (arguably) the greatest amount of parity out of the 4 major pro sports leagues. I think a salary floor would be more beneficial to MLB than some sort of cap.

Relationship Between Spending, Winning Remains Low | FanGraphs Baseball

With younger, cheaper players getting better in relation to their older, more expensive brethren over the last decade, it makes sense that money would have less impact on winning and that has been borne out over the last several seasons, including this year. While financial balance between franchises is not present off the field, and continued spending might lead to wins, payrolls in 2015 have not translated to wins, just as it has been for the last several seasons.
