Pretty sure that was a salary dump. Tigers may not have won out, but they want the extra salary room to lock down Scherzer.Still baffled by that Fister trade.
I am beyond confused at this point. I just don't understand any of the moves he makes anymore.Jack Z couldn't have come up with a better way to troll the Mariner fanbase than to sign Willie Bloomquist.
It's a marginal move with marginal overall impact, but it shows how flawed their decision making is now. My hatred for Bloomquist that burns with the fire of a thousand suns aside, you simply don't do multiyear deals with guys like that, and you sure as hell don't do it so early in the offseason. You wait until rosters get cut down in spring training, and you see who you like of who becomes available then.I am beyond confused at this point. I just don't understand any of the moves he makes anymore.
No doubt about it. The Mariners have the cash. Cano has his ring. If the Mariners give him 8 years or more at 25m per, which the Yanks flat out say 7 is far as they will go. I could see him taking it. I can see the Yanks going 30m per though on a shorter contract. He's just using the Mariners' desperation to drive up his price tag.
