I think that a necromancer and/or shadowknight being able to call TO the group. It could be based off of masking themselves with the darkness of death and floating to their group as a mist or something to make it thematically match the class.
Honestly, thinking about it more, they should just give every class some kind of group-centric mobility tool - a pull to or a teleport-to-group ability. But attach specific conditions to it (classes present, dungeon types, weather, day/night, etc.).

That single design choice would instantly cut down a lot of the pointless friction around forming groups without turning the world into a teleport lobby. At the same time, it would naturally create class interdependence.

I don't see an issue with any of that. Would be nice.

That being said, rogues should naturally have a call TO the group, and just base on the fact that they can sneak just about anywhere. The call to group would just make it faster than having to do it yourself.

*edit* one more thing...
I think that Paladin and Cleric could have a special version of COTH that is only usable between a cleric and a paladin and vice versa. Call it something like Call To The Light. The paladin is summoning a fellow healer to their call for help so to speak. Through their faith, they are able to slip through the light to the who is calling them.
Interesting but what problem is this intended to solve? I played the game and cannot figure out why everyone is talking about teleports and mobility stuff. I felt like the characters are too fast and easy to get around on, if anything. Rogues can basically fly. I’m not against ideas but what’s up, what am I missing?

It allows anyone to start a group wherever. Less chance of showing up to a spot and it is camped or becomes camp before your tank arrives or whatever.

if they proliferated fetching players to everyone, i imagine they'd make it a tradeskill instead of a class themed thing, reinvented 16 times. "summoning" or something like that. they already mean to have 'wagoneering' to have a wagon to haul your loot. they also made it where you can't gate encumbered. so summoning some one (also unencumbered) to do a group session wouldn't interfere with the goal of players moving about, doing things.

i do wish all the classes could gate in some capacity tho!

Is it me or are players on this very cliquish? It seems like you either bring-your-own-friend-group or you solo. Is any class easier to find groups with in the current alpha?

i haven't tried in the alpha to find a party yet, but i did okay on the public test. i've heard that some of the alpha guys are trying a content-lock-down hustle amongst their guild/group whatever. but i haven't had much experience with all that.

Yes that’s what I found too. And the game is so imbalanced right now you can have whatever group makeup you want. I think that’s due to the exp being optimal in a trio. No point to group up past that.

theoretically ranger or beastlord would be the most wanted class for groups I think. Their auras scale with group size. Could be worth adding a fourth in that instance. I hope they do massive changes for ea.

they have a lot of balancing work to do. That should give everyone concern because balancing is notoriously difficult.

We didn't seem to have a problem, but I think the biggest hurdle was the chat window spam just overwhelming new players, myself included. It's very easy to miss tells even when you have your chat windows all setup. I'm guessing most tells are missed all together.

I talked to a lot of people just doing tradeskills and the chat is currently a nightmare. Especially with people who are used to modern chat and don't factor in easy to remember, spell, and type names when naming their character. My characters that I expected tells on were two syllables or less with no more than 8 characters in length.

At the least, the game seriously needs a popup tell window option, where that window can easily respond to that person. With such things, I usually assume they are in the works, but chat refinement is only mid level, at best, on the to-do list.

i'm actually annoyed chat fades so fast, or at all in the case of my tell window. i want to see every tell with no fade ever, but it fades. maybe it's a setting i can fix. i'd rather it stay and i can /clearchat the chat when i need.

There is a setting to change this in the settings menu, I didn't even see it the first time.

Completely hooked after the 10-day play test. Wish I'd played more in the earlier playtests. Been watching some of NickHoTS and alovingrobot's videos on twitch to see more about the game. Didn't realize there was a Bone Construct in Wyrmsbane. Not sure how I missed it. Would have been cool to give that a try - my team might have been a bit low for it (highest level 18) but would have been something to maybe push us to level a bit more in the last few days instead of playing alts.

The next play test (if there is one) and/or Early Access can't get here soon enough! Out of desperation I even logged into Pantheon yesterday for a few minutes.

There's so much I want to do and explore. Watched Shawn work on some of the outdoor areas in Fallen Pass. Looks like a massive outdoor dungeon area that's gonna be a blast to check out. We only scratched the surface of Fallen Pass, doing the skeletons at the entrance.

The more I think about what I want to level first, the more I'm leaning toward wizard. Soloing was easy, the damage in groups felt good, maximizing damage and mana efficiency was a fun aspect, and being able to portal around will be invaluable.

They are going to do another open test before beta launches. No date yet, but I’d guess in dec.

Be excited, but be realistic as well. It probably won't work, because poopsock MMOs haven't since EQ. And the only reason it worked in EQ was because there were no alternatives. Hard or soft PVP in a game designed around PVE is a known recipe for failure. Having to compete for camps and spawns is soft PVP, and will continually whittle away at your customer base. Telling people to git gud instead of adding instancing or making sure you have parallel paths to the same xp/loot that are open to everyone is a quick way to make people cancel sub and never look back.

If the game can tackle those issues and makes it to relase I will be pleasantly surprised.

Be aware that if you fail Bone Construct you can't get your corpse back until someone (else) kills it, or a necro summons it; at least that's what I read. According to Discord, he death touches anyone that tries to leave his room that is on his agro table, along with anyone over level 20. That said, a dude I was talking to on the last 10 day test said he was able to duo either Bone Construct or Skyseer (the level 25 3 day respawn boss), but I think they were probably a bit twinked out.

Pet peeve of mine... Being realistic is not the same as being pessimistic. You're describing pessimism. We're all presumably adults and can be optimistic responsibly. I'm confident they could blow this game like every previous attempt and everyone here being optimistic will be ok.

That said by all means if one feels inclined to doom continue to do so, but taking the position of being more mature or wise because you're a doomer has always rubbed me the wrong way. Not really about you specifically just a general observation as being a wet blanket is so popular on this forum.

Reality can be called pessimistic when it's offsetting excitement, but it is still reality. That's all. I'm glad people are having fun chasing the nostalgia dragon, but the game has some serious foundational issues that need to be addressed if it wants to survive in the long run. This thread is the place for both the fanbois and the critics of the game. For me, I am an interested spectator for now. I would love to have something new to add to my MMO rotation that is fun for the long run. EQ, WOW, FFXIV, and DDO are all good for variable runs, but a few more games to break things up would be nice. Pantheon exists, but is mired in many of the exact same problems that are going to plague MnM.
