Even BDO - which is one of the grindiest, sweatiest MMOs ever - eventually realized that "regional" banking is fucking retarded and serves no realistic purpose, other than frustrating players.

To me, they need to be more open with allowing trade to flow between ALL players. The banks being regional is nice for "immersion" but a big BIG time waste and community breaking device.

As the world stands right now, the 2 deep places are essentially cut off from everything else and vice versa with faction and location. Even just the difference between NH and Elf land had a disproportionate economy and item availability.

Yes, there will be people that will LOVE being an inter-regional tradesmen and that is "what they do" buying medium ranked items in one place and selling them as rare in another etc. etc. but with how much they keep suppressing cash availability, it is going to be bad for a long time - then you add in disenchanting items...

UD banks are connected to NH. AV banks are not.

It is also a 3-5 min run from UD to NH.

I think on the east coast server if it maintains crazy high pop, the split banks might work? For box server and other servers barely clinging to some form of economy the banks will just make it worse. I don’t expect much of an economy on box server regardless, basically gonna be camping something if I want it

Might go for a Deep Elf necromancer.

What servers are you US people playing on? Not sure if I want to be on a EU server.

Actually got myself a little hyped. I think after people flocked to the Forever beta the EQ nostalgia in me woke up. I have no interest in WoW again, but old school EQ-like looks nice.

I can see UD ending up being the trade hub if it keeps the current setup.

They should probably consider adding a quest chain or rep feature for bank linking. Would add another level of progression to chase and something to look forward to, could potentially be a money sink as well.

While “way faster” in combat… it is the most EQ than anything since EQ.

Just go to the wiki, start at night harbor, look at the maps and info, then move outward zone by zone… the info gets more sparse and sparse - the maps get more nebulous and super basic…

Unlike p99 or a classic server, you do not “know” from memory or availability the entire game, or even just what you did last time you did EQ for the 10th time.

There is still some magic to explore, you can forge friendships and get to know people because its currently not just a DDR race to 60.

Is it perfect? No- you cant see anything for 75% of the game day normally… the zones are too big… not “empty” just too darn big. if they get the world to the size they say, and the player size is what it is… you will have a highly abandoned world.

Player models are a personal peeve, i dont like not really being able to “see” the armor and weapons etc “easily” like EQ, even wow… wood elves suck…

Sooo… MnM or EQ again?? May as well do MnM

Good news - the most recent patch increased the rep gains in NH.

Now if only I would have known that we could inject "art" into the chatbox like New World - I could have went out with a ban ;D.
What's a good class to start with?

I tried it one time during some stress test but never got anywhere.

Kinda feel like giving it a go and support the devs a little.

In EQ I started as a Druid then switched main to Iksar Monk. Maybe I'll take that path as well in this while waiting for the lizard race.
The Necro you're thinking of going with is probably perfect. Theyre "ok" for groups, but can solo better than anyone else past level 20 (as theyre currently implemented). I would double check on the patch notes before picking Necro, though - to see if the community sentiment is that they got nerfed into the fkn ground. Otherwise, monk is an all around great noobie character with a lot of utility. Same with Druid since they have group utility/heals and are one of the best soloer's, too.

I still think that the "idea" that the box server is going to be light isnt going to hold true. Rampage alone is going to have between 130-150 toons (Mains and Boxes combined) alone. Though, I will honestly be surprised if the bulk of the people starting will play more than casually up to 60. Then the over flow from the queues on the no box servers will spill in because outside of your neck beards, no one gives a shit and just wants to play. One person controlling a camp with 3 characters on the box server, or 3 people controlling 3 characters on a heavy population no box server - makes no difference in my mind.

Shawn has hinted at the fact that we have a lot more coming when it comes to banking, zone travel, etc. A lot of the complaints like that, buff timers, etc. - it all seems to just be early friction with "plans" to alleviate it with some game mechanic when they get around to it. Which the initial nerf to a handful of players on the Beta server will go over a lot smoother than the much larger Early Access population and I get that.

I think my only complaint with the game is not having specific class trainers in other starting areas, especially on launch when you want people more spread out. Removing options from specific classes seems like a way to create more lag and server load.

No Spellblade trainers in UD kinda sucks.

Subbed up, a bit costly in the EU but I want to check it out.

Probably go Necro or Druid.

There's some stress test tomorrow right?

Yea, announcement is in the discord to see what time it starts in your timezone.

I think most of us chose Trem as the server. Go create your chars.

I picked a low pop server on WoW, won't be doing that again. I used to pick based on server name, but now I'm one of those people that goes straight for the highest pop server available.
As for class, I can't decide. I like cleric, but I'm worried about the lack of haste, slow, sow, ports, thorns and all the other cool or useful stuff. Is rez really important enough to justify missing out on all those things if the other two healers can heal almost as well for 99% of content? The HP buff is not impressive to me. Most people will probably know a cleric they can summon to help them anyway, or have a paladin and just take the exp loss if nothing else. I've also seen people upset about their proc based damage saying it's far too high, so it might get nerfed. The way I see it is the damage is necessary to make up for the lack of utility, but I think a lot of people feel like rez is so important it counteracts being useful in other ways, which I disagree with because it's such a niche spell when everyone knows the world better as deaths come much less frequently. You might only get to rez once every couple of days. Maybe I'm underselling it, who knows.

Shaman seems like the class everyone is recommending for heals since they seem to get it all except ports and they can heal almost as well as cleric. I'm not much of a number cruncher, but haste (and dots if needed) probably help more for the party DPS than the cleric dps boost does, but I could be wrong, and slow is probably more useful to survival than most of the extra stuff in the cleric's toolkit. People say the Shaman can solo, and to be honest I'm a bit worried on this aspect. I play a lot at odd hours, so I basically have to have some degree of soloability if I want to get anything done. Even if it's slow. Druid is a mixed bag, but they have a lot of cool utility, SoW, ports, amazing leveling helper buff in thorns. Porting and SoW alone seem worth their weight in gold in this world. With how big the zones are, I can only imagine how much it will help in the longrun. Then there's bard. People seem to be liking the bard changes, and I feel like I might enjoy it as a support class.

Somehow I have to decide between cleric, shaman, druid or bard in under a week. It's good to have choices, so I should probably be happy about it. I originally wanted to play cleric, but I'm not sure I can justify it currently.
