These people are completely fucked. I knew nothing about the game going in. Managed to get a character created and somehow in game? I can't see anything at all and have 0 idea of what to do. Can't talk to anyone and zero clue how to start.

They did get $15.83 out of me which I for sure will reverse with my CC company.

This game will last maybe 3-4 months and will fold. I'm pretty sure it exists only to make Pantheon look good. How does shit like this even get made?

I just want the immediate newbie area to thing bit and sever stability to be ok for when I get in Saturday. So I can do my couple class quests then grind skeletons at the GY in UD for coin, cloth armor, and scraps to sell. So I can buy effing bags.

For you who played beta. How many quests are there at the beginning? I am working on the starter quest right now but are there more class related ones after or do they come later.

Completely depends on class as far as I know. Like for my monk in beta I only had 3, and they could all be done back to back right out of the gate.

For my DE cleric there are 2 available immediately back to back and at least one more at level 8.

As for other quests I think there are several, based on what I’ve read in chat over the months.
But I’m no expert on questing. I mostly spent my time just killing and grouping in dungeons.

Been up since about an hour after launch, very smooth so far. Few lag spikes but no disconnects etc.

spell cost changes are brutal for level 1. Hard to get that 25copper so I could actually do damage on the shaman.

25 copper for a lvl 1 spell is rough.

They're gonna pass 15k subs today for sure and probably see another modest weekend surge when people get either time off or an injection of money into their accounts. It would not shock me if they stabilized in the 20k range by Saturday.

I feel like 15k is kind of a critical point where after that, if they can sustain numbers for a while, they may have some actual extra resources to accelerate development speed. Less than 15k is like ok we can keep a small core group (12-20) of staff relatively well fed, but there's not a lot of breathing room.

Wishing them well because I'm one of the folks holding off for 1.0 - or at least until the world itself is closer to complete.

Yup. I’ll revisit this at 1.0 but not touching EA.

The closed beta was… telling. Their dev processes / lack of testing / lack of class direction… I get it, they’re indie… but still.

It had a ton of potential but it took huge steps backwards the last 6 months as they got closer and closer to EA.

It’s not for me yet.

Moores law applies to the fact a bunch of dudes made it for free in their spare time. You couldn't even license an engine to attempt something like this 15-20 years ago

Got to 5 on the ranger. I made a few mistakes. I figured spells and abilities came much later so didn't look, but there are some good ones you can buy like finishing blow.

Also didn't realize how cheap backpacks are now. Used to be brutal.

Friend is getting on so switching over to the deep gnome wizard.
