Reminds me of years when the Penguins managed to have a guy go on LTIR right before the deadline but come back just in time for the playoffs.

You mean the Blackhawks with Kane a few years ago. Thats the most notorious one.

Oh there's obviously been other examples, the Penguins have just had a real problem with injuries in general last 3-5 years every regular season but somehow have found ways to potentially use it at a few of the deadlines.

I'm not even sure the main problem for Philly has been goaltending (not that it has been good). Their team D just gives up a lot.

Well, Caps tried to keep Philly in it for a long time. You keep giving a team power play chances they'll score eventually. I guess Mantha is just going to score every game now.

People who poo’d on the mantha trade were silly. I knew he would fit that teams play style so much better than in Detroit.

Still early obviously, but I look at those that called it a win-win for both and think they could be right. I think Mantha just a better fit for our style/coach, and Vrana looks like he can fit in with young group in Detroit. Obviously have to see what they do with the draft picks, too. Going to have to kinda root for Detroit a bit with V there now.

I definitely think it was a win win for both teams. I think both guys didn’t fit the systems they were in. And a change of scenery seemed to be needed for both.

Funny you mention that, Mantha's 3 goals in 3 games has him in a 3 way tie now with Backstrom and Oshie for 2nd in goals for us. Obviously unlikely to catch the top guy, though.

Detroit's PP was lousy as usual tonight. They may have out shot the hawks, but a lot of those were from bad angles.

Mickey and Ken cracked a few Panik jokes tonight. Merrith Merrith , how long should I expect that to last? Did your broadcast team eventually get tired of them?

Considering we have Craig Laughlin as our color guy, it should come as no surprise they didn't ever really get tired of it. Although they didn't do as many as your broadcast team did tonight, that's for sure. He was okay after blocking that one shot with the back of his head/neck right? I didn't get to watch the whole game.

He seemed fine and played the whole game. Nielsen didn't fare so well though and never came back after getting crushed at center ice. Hopefully that means Svech comes back on Monday.

I saw that hit. At first looked like Chicago player took the worst of it, but Nielsen got crunched, too. Vrana got almost 17 minutes, not too bad, but over 4 minutes of that was PP time. Hopefully bounce back game for you guys Monday. Tomorrow against Boston going to be rough for us since they were already home resting and waiting for us today.

4 games against Dallas next week, I expect it to be pretty damn brutal. I'll consider us lucky if we get 2 points out of that.
