speaking of assets tho, I wanted to rage so hard on rerolled when you guys were crying about pantheon animations and character models.

Problem they could solve with a few hundred dollars, no big fucking deal. Why they chose to stick it up Brad's nose instead of purchasing shit like below, no idea.

Yeah, there is a ton of good art out there selling for nothing, and desperate talent making it.

Biggest reason I left the biz, some really great artists whore themselves for pennies. As do most of the people in gaming.

If you're not an owner, bend over and give it away.

ya, assets are a dime a dozen. I basically have an EQ clone I can build into anything. Modern Day, Middle East w/ jesus, Fantasy, shitty ass looking anime, whatever.

NPC/Item/quest, any braindead idiot could populate.


We have our own EQ clone, just need to "finish" it. Little odds and ends I need to code in that I haven't had the motivation to do.

Think the plan is In house art long term which means having an art direction so if that's the case, buying models that will not be in at launch may not be a priority. Especially when anyone can add them to their game. PH works for them now since they want to get the core systems down but long term, it probably doesn't.

They should consider some of those artist for jobs tho

reading through the AMA, seeing his out of nowhere pantheon forum post about "user generated content is a big part of the vision" (you'd think something so big would be part of the sacred game tenets), this dude Brad is just all over the place. trying to hook the oldschool player, with hedging around stating flat out fast travel and pets/companions will be prevalent, feeling out the forum in terms of a cash shop.. it going to dissappoint everyone. Mr Brad is happy enough to play this game though, as admitting that pantheon will be closer to rift than EQ would dry up the $ he gets from 'oldschool' dreamers.

There in-lies the beauty of Pantheon, by being vague as possible and just saying it will be every old school gamers wet dream they can fantasize about the perfect MMO in their own head. popsi, i was not privy to the privy that was vanguard, nor did i play EQ. ive heard plenty about mr brads ways, but as with many people it didnt sink in until i experience it firsthand.

PvP by launch we hope to have one shard, and that would likely be an FFA shard. That said, PvP is very important to us, with one of Pantheon's expansions likely centered around it. It would be at this time that a variety of PvP settings and rulesets would be exposed to the segment of the player base who enjoys the extra dimension of gameplay PvP brings to an MMO.

Anyway, how is it surprising that anything brad had to say would be uninteresting?

He shouldn't be talking unless he is accompanying it with graphs, screenshots, dev videos, or gameplay videos.

a pvp expansion will basically be a side game within pantheon.

arena instances with pvp types (team, deathmatch, etc), pvp items.

there is no way he could be talking about anything else.

Yeah, shit PvP and probably a waste of resources and focus they can't afford to waste. Then again, they wouldn't be the first game to pour a ton of effort into designing PvP while forgetting to make a good game worth fighting in/over first place.
