I really wish while looting it showed you if an attachment could be equiped on a gun like it does when it's in your bag. That's a huge learning curve thing as a new player. I can't figure out what the fuck goes on what

It does. It shows a graphic of one of the weapons you have equipped and it says like "equip vertical grip to S12k" when you hit F if you don't have the inventory window. You'll figure out attachments pretty quickly. The two "gee which do I use" type of things is mostly SMG nozzles and grips:

SMG compensator: much less recoil. Good for your close quarter combat situations where stealth doesn't matter.
SMG flashhider: less recoil, greatly reduced gun flash. Less useful than Comp or Silencer, but can be a boon in Fog games.
SMG suppressor: less recoil, much quieter. Probably the best for all SMG's. Most smg's are completely silent past 100m with one of these attached.

Vertical grip (reduces vertical recoil): SCAR, SKS, Tommy Gun, Vector
Angled grip (less horizontal and vertical recoil): UMP, M4

Magazines I pretty much always want Ext. Quickdraw> Extended > Quickdraw. Certain guns (Mini14, Vector) benefit immensely from extended mags. The Vector basically requires it as it doubles your capacity from 13 to 26 bullets. Most weapons only go from 30 per magazine to 40 per magazine. Helpful for sprayers like UMP and potentially a lot of extra damage with high damage weapons like AK's.

AR nozzles it's pretty much: Silencer > Compensator > Flash Hider. The only exception is during fog games I'd take a flash hider over a compensator.

Sniper nozzles: Silencer>>>> Compensator (EXCEPT BOLT ACTION RIFLES) > Flash Hider. This is where Flash Hider and Compensators can be considered even. Compensators do nothing for bolt-action as your aim is reset per bolt. Flash hiders are inherently good because as a sniper you want to reduce your exposition to the enemy as much as possible. Certain weapons like the SKS benefit from compensators though because you can spray that as fast as you click. You'll almost always want a suppressor though as muffling your shots is the greatest boon you can have in this game.

I think some building types are more likely to have better loot and not just spawn density. Look at the long storage garage like structures in Georgepol docks or the docks on military island. I regularly see level 3 items and higher end weapons there. And those buildings have what, 4 or so spawns inside and then the platforms just outside. Then there's the shipping containers in the same areas, usually with good items on top.

So I feel it's more building type that has a quality modifier followed by how many spawns a building may have. Hence why you rarely see anything I'm the Harry Potter/potato houses, whatever you want to call them. As they seem to have maybe 2 to 3 spawn points on the upper level and only 1 or 2 on the lower. Yet you can see anything from pants to a kar98 in them

I thought some reddit autist proved that and built a map that showed places like Georgeopol/Military isle spawned 'military grade(lvl3 helmet/vests/more powerful guns)' much more often than in other places.I have no idea about it however other than some vague recollection.

That was disproved by the devs. But considering military has a spawn every ten feet roughly over its whole expanse you just get more shots at it spawning.

It'll also have tags SR, SG, AR, SMG (Sniper Rifle, Shotgun, Assault Rifle and SMG).

You will figure out the quirks quickly. slippery slippery hop on discord tonight and we'll run you through the ringer and provide tips, Rockstar is probably playing and he's helpful, you can hop in with him now. Just tell him you're new.

Right but the building types themselves may have an increased amount of spawns too. It feels like you can drop in a clusterfuck city and get nothing after scouting many buildings (or apartments). Or see the ever so lovely 3x double-shot shot guns (or pants) piled on eachother in a room. But I've personally not seen those same piles in the warehouse/garage type structures or on the shipping containers (shipping containers inside do seem a bit more frequently to have them inside though).

That's why I personally feel why some people made those maps as Gankak referenced. Wouldn't be surprised if the disproving was only in the "gear only spawns here" sense. They seem pretty good at misunderstanding statements or avoiding the questions people have completely sometimes.

I'm just going to spam school all day, until I get good enough to live
This is what everyone tells me, just land at the school or military base, dont worry if you die, just get a gun and practice with recoil on different gun. I usually duo with a buddy, and when we play, thats what we do for the first 30 min or so, just school over and over and over, then we either go to powerplant, roznok or Georgio crates after.

The only issue with school/military is you get fucked by RNG 3/4ths the time. There is value to getting some practice in "omfg I need to loot fast and kill people" and "this place is crawling with players, time to kill!", but that is only part of the game. The reason guys like Grimmz and other kids on Reddit bitch is because they hate the non-shooting strategy aspect of the game, which makes sense because they excel at the shooting part. But you can best be sure if I -know- someone is going to be headed in my direction, I sure as fuck am going to set a trap that minimizes the risk of an actual shootout and increases the chance of me downing them before they can do anything (ie, be a cheap ass camper).

You need to always be thinking about the next circle. One of the biggest traps you can fall into is getting loot greedy, then getting fucked by circle RNG and not having enough time to get there w/o a vehicle. Having level 3 everything and being armed to the gills doesn't mean much if you're dying to the blue wall, or if other players get to the circle border 1st and snipe you as you try to cross it.

Btw, a good way to fight campers is if you see a vehicle parked near a building, but the car isn't in a spawn spot, try to blow out the tires if it is safe to do as such. Usually they are betting on having a quick escape, but popping their tires forces their hand or reduces the chances of them being a threat as you drive away (since they will now have to escape the blue wall on foot). Same for leaving military or school if you survive. Make sure anyone else left cannot easily follow you, or at least follow you quickly.

Yah I don't recommend school for learning how to fight it out at all. Even military can be sketchy if you aren't good at fast drops. If you want to be in some action early to refine your firefight skills then drop Pochinki, Rozhok, Primorsk or Sverny if they are in the main drop route. Good chance off finding at least a shotgun and you'll have four to fifteen other people dropping in those cities with you for the fighting aspect.

Another bonus of dropping and learning in Pochinki is that it's pretty centered on the map and almost always in the first circle or two, takes a bit of that stress away from having to worry about the circle.

Dropped in Pochinki last night a few times. There was one game where after a few minutes I killed a guy that plowed into my house, and then 4 more guys came one by one to the house to try to kill me. How the fuck none of them ended up fighting outside I have no idea. Last guy finally got me because I was still trying to reload and med from the guy before. Felt pretty crazy

I feel uncomfortable with the shotguns in situations like that. 2 shots isn't a lot when you suck, and reload takes forever. I'd much rather have an SMG

Yeah, the over under can fuck you over, I try to go for a pump or uzi in early game.

Shotguns are largely unreliable. The only time to use them are A: if it's the first weapon you have B: the only CQC weapon available (no SMG's) or C: you have a choke. A choke makes most of the shotguns go from a 50% chance of one shotting with a body-shot to something like 85%. The S686 with a choke has some extreme range, but only two shots. The pump shotgun with a choke is great for people rushing your house. The S12k is mostly bad except with a compensator and extended quickdraw. It'll never have the tightness of a choked rifle, but you can get 7 shells off in about 3 seconds which is more than enough for one person if you control the spread.

Overall for close quarters I'd never, ever pick up a shotgun if ANY smg is available. And then I usually dump an SMG for a red dot SCAR as my close quarters. For SMG's the Ump is a very practical weapon and I used to use it exclusively until more recently. I'd say for SMG's it's UMP (try burst with a red dot if you don't have an AR as well) > Vector (only with extended mag) > Tommy Gun (honestly haven't used it much) > Uzi (stock and compensator help immensely). The Uzi isn't bad, but iron sight only and it takes 7ish bullets to kill some one with a 2 vest in the body and it only has a clip of 35 with extended. The real key to SMG's is controlling the recoil into their face. Nipples to nose will kill anyone instantly as no matter WHAT the gun, 3 headshots will kill them. Even with a 3 helmet. 3 Uzi bullets will kill some one. I think it's less for T1 helmets and T2 as well.

Overall shotguns do suck, but they can come in handy if you get a nice line up on the shot with a choke on. I have a clip of me killing a guy with a shotgun blast instantly. I went to loot and his 1 helmet and 3 vest were untouched. Not sure if that's the shotgun's problem or the 3 Vests are bugged as people are claiming now.

The Thompson destroys people and I've been raping people with the UZI lately, I just wish they'd let me put a red dot on it and a foregrip (Make it the larger uze instead of the micro).

I did destroy a guy the other day that had a level 3 vest on with the uzi, I'll try to post it up later.

Won a game on accident. Started and tried to drop somewhere south of Pachinki, but kind of missed and veered to a few houses on their own. Looted those and had a vector and scar with 4x. Found a bike up the road, drove off to a house. Got a phone call, went afk for like 10-15 minutes, came back to 1/4 health in the blue. Hopped on bike went to a solo house north of the pier. Sat there talking on phone watching the game with no sound, circle closed around me. Took a few pot shots at a guy crossing the field and hung out. Failed to kill a guy with 3 left, circle shrunk and forced me out of house. Apparently that guy had got killed and there was another kind of out in the open and I killed him for the win lol. I think I had 2 kills, and won with no sound.

Ironic, because I can't win when trying

got my first top 2 (solo 3rd person), at the end I was behind a rock, the circle wasn't getting any smaller and I had no idea where the other guy was. I didn't move, he didn't move - eventually I ran round my rock and took some fire but couldn't locate him, ran back round and the firing stopped. After a while of nothing happening I got bored, moved and died.

How do you deal with that situation?
