About the vision and the herbs and shit. This was really the main part that bugged me. Otherwise I actually enjoyed the movie quite a bit more than I expected to. As some have been attempting to communicate (I think), yes they set up what the herbs did and we all got that. The problem is with an 18th century Indian having ANY FUCKING IDEA what infrared is. For all she knew it fucking saw souls and the herbs masked the soul. Yes, she knew it made people cold, but how would she know what an alien species uses for vision? Let alone how heat vision works.

But ok, somehow she immediately made that logic leap.

Why are you fixated on the idea that she has to know all about infrared? All she has to put together is that the herbs work, not why the work. She's not writing a college thesis.

The brother set up the idea that her main talent was seeing what other people couldn't.

In a movie about Predators vs Indians that's about as much explanation as you can expect.

My main issue with realism is how perfectly she was able to predict his exact movements and timing for her plan to work. That's Batman level shit

The Predator "saw" him, but it just thought he was a corpse because of his body temp being down and because he was playing dead. But she wouldn't know that, she just knew he was playing dead. The leap to say "omg the herb hides him" doesn't make sense given what she knew.

Not so sure he did see him. He was walking by and ended up stepping on him which caused him to sit up an yell

Utnayan Utnayan Technically, the predator killed himself in the original Predator also

the only un-realistic thing in the movie is how a camp full of frenchmen didn't start raping a woman right away, everyone knows french are the true (sexual) predators

The Frenchmen actually started discussing that around the time the translator dude stepped in...that leader guy wanted to kill her after she attacked him, then his underling suggests "using her" instead

Because she literally said, "It couldn't see him." Not that it thought he was dead, not that some ancestor magic was at work because of these "mystical" flowers, but that it couldn't see him. So yes, she did figure out why they didn't work, despite having nowhere near the level of knowledge necessary to understand it. I'd have been far more ok with that scene if she said, "It thinks he's dead."

Your original point was that she somehow knew all about infrared.

Also, the the predator stepping on the guy is a pretty big hint he didn't see him.

i don't knw where i stand in the argument on whether it was okay or not... i just think it's stupid that if he can only see in infrared why isn't he tripping on everything that is cold? he STEPPED on the translator, not TRIPPED on him.

This movie was dope as FUCK!

My ONLY beef, was yeah. No fuckin way she could figure out that strat to use the helmet like that to kill him. I mean come on!

They also REALLY needed the predators to pull a Glover and surround her to "congratulate" her...

Definitely the 2nd best of the Predator movies.

I was trying to figure out during the movie if that pistol she had was the one from Predator 2. At the end you see the plate on it and yes, it is.

But the predator tossed that to Glover at the end, meaning somewhere that tribe gets wiped out, or it's not the pistol?

watch the end credits, there is a drawing (done in indian art pictorial style) of the indian village being surrounded by predator ships.

the likely scenario is that they came to retrieve their fallen comrades corpse, gave a weapon or shield or something to Naru as tribute for her warrior skills, and she gave them the pistol in exchange. It is the exact same pistol, people have screenshotted the inscription on the handle and its the same as in Predator 2.

Alternatively they wiped out the village for killing one of their young and took the pistol. That doesn't really jibe with the way they exchanged weapons with Glover though, so I think the first interpretation is correct.

I don't see them gives alien tech to humans but to clean this mess. They also come back for this reason (but also to retrieve fallen comrades).

  • In the first movie the pred nuke the place to be sure nothing left.
  • In the second one, they come back for the corpse, tech and give him back the gun. (Btw one of the main topic of the plot is to capture one predator and his tech)
  • In the game Predator: Concrete Jungle the plot is:

The game opens in 1930, in New Way City. The player controls a Predator who stalks and kills Mafia boss Bruno Borgia and members of his gang who are at war with the Irish Mob. Bruno's wife Isabella shoots the Predator in the eye, causing his blood to splatter on her and her newborn son Hunter. The Predator makes a hasty escape, leaving behind some of his equipment. As he attempts to reach his ship, the roof he is running across collapses - leaving him incapacitated. The Predator then sets off his ship's self-destruct sequence; however, this fails to kill him as he is outside the range of the explosion. Shamed by defeat and having exposed his race to the humans, the Predator is exiled by his clan to a planet inhabited by deadly alien creatures. One hundred years later, the Predator, now called Scarface, is offered a chance for redemption.

  • In Avp 1 no nuke, motherboard pred ship show up to get their friend' corpse back. They decide to give an advanced spear to one human girl. This is where my argument fall short :)
  • Avp 2, humans nuke the place, everyone die, but one fucker stole alien tech (an elder predator modified plasma gun) - But main plot of the movie was: Another experienced predator decide to go on earth in an attempt to clean up evidence of their activities, as you can see the veteran Yautja using some kind of dissolving liquid.

It's clearly what they were going for, but isn't fully consistent.

There's no way the herb would stop the body temp enough to be noticeable without killing him.

Just like in the original where he couldn't see Arnold because he was covered in mud. If that were the case you could just wear pants, sweater, and a ski mask and be completely pretty much invisible.

At some point you just have to accept it's not a documentary and they're not going more than skin deep with the science.

I'm also not sure if the pistol has a great explanation that doesn't fall apart if you think about it too much

they probably gave her an old zune mp3 player and laughed about how a savage would think a old junk device is worshipped as a technological miracle. which dies 4 days 2 hours later when the battery runs out.

Thanks for the reminder. I was hesitant on this one, but the right approach for me is to watch P2 again.

If I’m hungry for more after watching P2 I’ll follow it up with Prey.

Lots of action, tons of girl power. I wish they would have made her a hunter or warrior instead of seeing the tribe's herbalist taking out a predator solo but what to do in today's world? Most of the major damage on the predator was done by her. Not the warriors of the tribe, the entire camp of frenchies, the giant grizzly...nope. The girl who had never really been on a hunting mission knowing how to hunt...predators. Arnie was a 230 lb SF badass and she's a 95 lb dog whisperer/fight specialist. Makes sense. Sure....

Not sure if this is trolling or not, since it's wrong on almost every level.

Her brother seemed to do the second most damage to it, while the award for 1st most damage to the predator goes to the predator himself.

Size is also irrelevant since even the strongest human is nothing compared to them. Both she and Arnold killed it in very similar ways, neither of which had anything to do with physical strength

She did damage, but she fooled the Predator into damaging itself more (the arm cut and the bolts)

That was the most unbelievable to me. I know, this was the predator's first hunt too so cutting it's own arm off was to be expected....happens all the time. Why don't you guys also explain to me how she killed those 4 trappers so easily in that camp when getting her dog back. "Well, you see, she used the trappers minds against themselves...ummm, duh, ummm"
