Ultraviolet. Would watch Milla J tits 'n ass in a sci-fi any day. Watched Aeon Flux right after, and Charlize T too has some juicy tits 'n ass. Both rated ten/ten for plot. No idea what the stories were about.

Deus - 5/10 (?). It could have been a promising and interesting Sci Fi movie but instead became lazy and generic. This is the most recent example of "How not to assemble a crew to explore space stuff." It was never going to be a Sunshine or an EH. Hard to recommend but if you have to see it just to know at least it is only an hour and a half.

Bonus review: Stick around for the hilariously out of place "rock" song over the credits, "Breaking the Past." Have no idea why this song was chosen. It does not fit the film. Checking the performers site (About Me – Steve Wallace) it shows taht this was from a Feature Film of the same name but I can't find a record of that. It is then credited as being a part of the Deus score. In a vacuum I could probably jam to it. At the end of this movie though it was a big question mark.

Monster House - 4/10 as an adult and 1/10 for a 5 year old. I thought this was terrible. The mocap didn’t age well, none of the characters were good, it was overly loud, and the story was abysmal. A dude meets a fat special ed carnival freak, steals her, she dies and turns in to a house? As far as kids movies go that is really bad. We’ve been trying to go through kids Halloween stuff.

Hocus Pocus 1 - 7.5/10. 6/10 for kiddo; Thought this was just as good 25 years later and all the times I’ve seen it in between. Has a lot of charm that movies from that era have.

Hocus Pocus 2 - 2/10, 4/10; Complete shit. Misses the point of the whole thing and turns it in to a Mary Sue fest with all the great things you can imagine from an unnecessary sequel made in 2022.

Hotel Transylvania - 6.5/10, 6/10; Not the best but not the worst. Miles ahead of Monster House but not up to classic Pixar. But it was a fun cute story that had some music, nice variety and use of classic monsters, and adult humor that parents could laugh at without it being crude. No idea about 2 or 3 or if we’ll bother.

We’ll see what we’ll pick tomorrow. We also did A Nightmare Before Christmas because it is obviously a Halloween AND a Christmas movie. And obviously a 10/10.

"Devil's Workshop" - 2 out of 5. My g/f hates horror movies and she liked the trailer, which.. in hindsight should have been a red flag. The cast has some b rated actors' that I typically enjoy seeing. But the story itself drags, has a lot of shit that just doesnt add or take anything away from the movie and even the overall story just falls short. What I expected to happen, which would have put a nice bow on it - didnt happen and it just abruptly ends. The type of horror that the movie appears to be going for the entire movie, and whats eluded to, takes an abrupt about-face and turns into some kind of fetish type of horror.

My personal recommendation is just to skip this movie.

Breeders ~ 2/10 It's just torture porn with the bare minimum of torture and nudity to qualify.

A woman who is really into horses wants to get pregnant with her man but can't for reasons unexplained. He gets roped into financing a longevity serum company whose lab looks surprisingly like the set of a torture porn movie. Two sadistic guys who are the muscle of the corporation are bad guys. If it stopped there I could have given it a 5. Then girl power breaks out in the LOL over the top way. The ending may be in my top three terrible of all time.

G/f and I watched Hulu's " Grimcutty " last night with my nieces. PG13ish, wanna be slenderman, dont expect any logical takeaways. Girls loved it for its nonsensical thriller parts, but its pretty brain dead.

I "think" the whole idea behind the movie is a message to parents to not over react and trust your kids? But the path the movie takes to arrive at that is pretty terrible. Basically, as a kid, you were safe if your parents didnt give a shit about you. The one kid that had shitty jetset parents was safe and had an awesome life.

Happy Death day happened to come on while doing laundry. Pretty silly fun movie especially for kids 10+ maybe, I have no idea what's acceptable these days since I think I watched Terminator and all the classics when I was young.

A weird one: I saw The Timekeepers of Eternity. I guess it's technically an animated film as it's the two part TV movie The Langoliers with each image printed in black and white on paper and then re-edited down to one hour from the original three with a number of thorn or crumpled paper effects.

Looks like this :

There is a clever virtuosity to it at times, but there is a problem. In similar movies like The Green Fog (a weird retelling of Vertigo using a collage of clips from a number of movies and TV shows set in San Francisco) or Martin Arnold experimental shorts (film clips being manipulated in order to make visible their subliminal essence), the source material is transcended. Here the end result is still at its core very much The Langoliers and... well... it's not great.

That's something I didn't know existed and is kind of intriguing...

Woman's husband has unexpectedly killed himself and as she's packing up their home she begins to learn of his dark secrets.

This was really, really good. The lead plays a woman with some darkness in her as well and she's just great. My only complaint (and it is a small one) is there's your standard scene right before the final sequence where everyone in the audience that doesn't know what the fuck is happening gets things explained to them. Fuck those people.

Watched Gray Man on Netflix last night. Loved it, IMO was like Uncharted meets John Wick meets Jason Bourne.

Not much narrative depth but not even the point, good action and choreography, and Gosling's funny one-liners delivered in his deadpan and wry sarcasm just work. There's nothing by Gosling I don't like.

Though IMO, Evans is too much of a goofball to make a good villain. Cillian Murphy would have been a better choice.

Scream (1996) - Wife had never seen this and to me it is an iconic piece of film. Maybe that has more to do with coming out right around the time we (our social group) were all 15, 16, 17; but it feels like a big piece movie history. I could be overstating that but whatever.

25 years later and I still appreciated it. There’s so many people in it that we’re early in their career, full of Halloween references, making fun of itself, and still some blood and gore (?).

Still think it is a 9/10. The soundtrack was a good flashback also. Man Matthew Lillard was just strange and for a minute there played the same character in every movie of that time.

I can never take Evans seriously. That guy comes off as a homo too much. Such a fucking goof.

I found this bland. Just a few punctual ideas here and there woke me up. By the same Russo brothers and in the same vein, I much preferred Extraction which is already not that great !
