Pains me to do this, but this whole season gets....

There so much material for them to work with and it was all squandered.

I loved the first half, after the mars shit kicked in and election happened every episode was the worst in the series for the most part.

Finale had some great lines but was ruined by the awful scenes throughout the episode. It was the best of the second half of the season but that doesnt say anything. The stuff withe Denmark was hilarious at first, I dont know how that storyline ended up being that bad

Oh yeah definitely, the latter half of this season was a steaming pile of garbage, with the occasional gem that made me lol. I did enjoy the Danish song every time they played it, especially after I learned it was from a real Danish thing (quoted earlier in this thread I think?).

I'll also shamelessly admit that I loved all the RickRoll stuff. It probably helps that I actually somehow like Astley's music, perhaps I share some traits with Dennis Reynolds.

so somebody explain to me the point of the memberberries?
what was their ultimate goal and what was the purpose of those older member berries ?

bonus question, how was hilldog going to send all the men under ground to be milked for semen?

Finale was alright. As a conclusion to the series it was a failure as the entire season was a failure but this episode had some jokes and some visual gags that were pretty funny. Laughed a few times, episode moved quickly, fine with it.

But I can't ever see someone wanting to go back and rewatch this season and it would make for terrible reruns. Comedy Central usually has an hour or so of South Park on in the early afternoon and you would never, ever want to fill air time with season twenty. Syndicating this season is likewise bleh.

Yeah, I posted before about how excited I was to be back watching the show after more than a decade away, and that turned to shit in my mouth soon after saying it. The episodes up to the election were good (some great), but if I rewatched them again with the knowledge of where it is all heading (fucking member berries for one), and without the craziness of the pre-election political landscape in the back of my mind, I am almost certain even the good ones would fall sort of flat. I'd definitely stop before I got to the election one, fuck that episode.

Not sure I'll continue next season, to be perfectly honest.

That's what I was thinking. Lets hope so bro.

Also, am I the only one who thought the cum and joke mines of mars didn't sound so bad? Spend all day shitposting and orgasming. They're going to have to let you get to porn to increase baby batter production.

They tied it up better than last season, but it still wasn't that great. I'm sad that memberberries were abandoned, since they had some of the greatest jokes of the whole season, although I guess there will be a whole lot of 'membering in the next season judging by what Trump has been up to. Really, I don't think one long storyline works for SP, the standalone episodes can pack much bigger punch, instead of feeling like a checklist to advance the story further.

I loved the first half of this season, but man did it go into the shitter fast after the election. Sure it still had a couple of good moments afterwards, but they were the exception.

The Danish song is legit awesome, but I don't get the whole thing with the leader being some random non-Danish dude? Just having the Danish leader just being a troll on his own would have been fine I think. Loved the member berries but they never showed what the endgame was. Turd Sandwich plot line just completely disappeared on a cliffhanger. Gerald practically getting a free ride out of all his bullshit trolling all season was fucking stupid. They just had no idea what to do after Trump won it seems. The reverse psychology bit was funny at least.

i don't see how the plot would have been any better if hilldawg was prez

its too bad they didn't dump the political shit midway and try to do something tying into westworld. that coulda been epic. cartman, butters, and randy were completely sidelined this season and you need one or two of those to make south park great again.

They could probably do well with all 2 part episodes next season. But shit gets stretched too thin with these season long arcs.

When they're forced to follow through with plotlines from 10 weeks ago that went stale instead of what happened last week their options are limited.
