Well, I'd also disagree that Halo and Froza are better than any of the big Nintendo franchises. I like Halo, but it's no Zelda, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Mario Galaxy, etc.

I just admitted that I play Madden, Forza, Gears of War and Halo with my Xbox buddies online. That I don't care about niche Japanese indie games or any of that shit. That I actually like Kinect.

For all the talk of "future proofing" and the belief that "most customers wouldn't care," they previously seemed determined to just go ahead with these changes as they figured it was a vocal minority doing the complaining. The numbers must've said otherwise, because that's really the only way I can see Microsoft reversing their policies.
I do wonder how much this changes things though. It wasn't just Microsoft's policies that hurt them, but both their arrogance and contradictory answers. This is certainly a step in the right direction, but I think they're going to have to work hard in the next few months to regain people's trust.

They have said the Xbox One has a power button on the front.
I'm guessing it's because, without the check, there's no way for them to determine whether one of your friends is borrowing your games or not. I don't know why they couldn't have come up with some sort of compromise. Despite all the crap Microsoft had come up with, this was probably their best new feature. So it's basically, "Hey, we got rid of some of those things you were complaining about, but we also got rid of the thing you were excited about!" making it somewhat of a wash.
Considering the pre-order numbers and past history of consoles? Yes, you are the minority in liking the Xbone. People change consoles when new generation comes and loyalty means dick all - it's happened over and over. You are by far in the minority of people backing a console this coming generation.

I'm sure Driveclub and Forza won't compare in any shape or form to each other... to me as a non-racing buff I honestly couldn't tell the difference. (I do like racing games to screw around with a little, just they don't particularly pump my nads since the original Gran Turismo - its really cool that PS4 is getting Driveclub as a day one PS+ title as a result for me)

That's basically my assessment.
Looks like this generation is probably going to shake out as the PS4 as the obviously dominant system, with the XBone in a distant 2nd place, and WiiU as a total afterthought other than the 1 week out of the year when maybe a new Zelda or Mario game comes out.
Nintendo needs to suck it up and stop selling consoles. Stick to portables(which they are great at) and then just be a software company for consoles. I'd almost guarantee that the money they would make off of having Mario/Zelda/Metroid selling on PS4 and XBone would be greater than the money they would make selling those games on WiiU + the new sales of WiiU consoles to people who want to play those games. WiiU is doing so poorly, new entries in those big franchises are going to be lucky to sell 20% of what they did on the Wii.
At this point, the only thing that would make WiiU any sort of a contender for this generation would be a legitimate Pokemon game for it. Kids STILL love Pokemon, I don't get it but it doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

Except, the X360 never dominated by a large margin. The PS3 caught up in hardware and they're about dead even, though the PS3 is usually slightly ahead.
The only thing the X360 ever dominated in was Call of Duty sales. Other franchises are all a lot closer.
It's also totally irrelevant, because console generations completely change things and success is never guaranteed. The PS2 is a system that actually dominated, unlike the X360, and look what happened.

I'm just saying completely dismissing recent history because of changes that didn't even make it to release seems kind of silly.
The main factors against Xbox One are the hardware, which time and again devs have shown to either A) develop to the lowest common denominator or B) the differences are so miniscule they're unnoticeable outside of screenshot stills and Kinect which I don't understand the backlash against. I loved using mine for Madden 13.

E3 is largely there to help build up inertia - they just let PS4 get all the initial inertia as a result.
Additionally, regardless of YOUR feelings about Kinect, many people DO NOT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT KINECT or would even prefer not to have it - I don't look forward to playing Dead Rising 3 and having to thrash on my couch to fight off a zombie - it sounds annoying, potentially exhausting, and potentially terrifying for my wife - since I'm personally prone to seizures.
They're starting a 5k race a half hour late with a $100 dead weight tied to their leg. It's not impossible to pull out against those odds, but I don't think odds makers would prefer XBox One in that race. [And this is just covering the delayed "good start" and Kinect - not even going into the hardware differences that may or may not be mitigated - remember they're all x86 based now, so they'll have more time for specific system tweaks in theory....]
