In most instances, the league and making money is the same thing for Jerry. That is why he didn't fight the salary cap penalty. It could only hurt the league which would make him not gain as much money. The one thing that proves he cares more about money than the league is the jersey/merchandise money. The cowboys are the only team that doesn't split that revenue with the other 31 teams.

I think we must be having a misunderstanding here. First, to clarify, Jerrydidfight the penalty. They just happened to lose.
My point was that he should want to stick it to the NFL. But instead he's siding with the enemy, thereby showing that he cares more about taking the league's side (and in turn protecting his asset) over that of his team's interests.
As I said, it's not reallysurprisingthat (a multi-millionaire) he would want to protect his money, but it's disappointing that the owners don't really give much of a shit about football. They're only in it for the money. A championship and success is nice, but it's really just a bonus to them. Jerry's proven that he'd be just as happy at 5-11 as he would at 11-5. I'd imagine all the other owners share his sentiment.

He declined to fight it in court, but he and Snyder would almost definitely have won since it constituted textbook collusion. Them doing that isn't going to hurt the league financially so the idea that he was choosing profits over his team doesn't make any sense

The NFL losing a collusion case in federal court would be bad PR for the league. This could mean less advertising money from sponsors. So yes it could hurt the league financially.
