This week will see Garrett get another four years. They'll also extend Linehan to keep the offensive cohesiveness together. Callahan might go elsewhere which means they'll need to find an O-line coach. Reports are saying Marinelli might head to TB but if he does it won't be because Jerry didn't try to keep him.
At some point we'll see Dez get something, either the franchise tag or long term (anywhere from 5-7 years) contract. Nothing would surprise me when it comes to the deal, but look for Dallas to try and protect themselves a little. Maybe make some of his pay roster bonuses like they initially did with TO when he came to town. Murrey could get a decent contract but they'll keep in mind the fact that his first three years in the league he was almost constantly hurt. Look for short term (3-4 years) with protections built in in case he gets hurt or goes on IR.
Look for them to try and get Carr to take a paycut. Don't know what they'll try and do with Claiborne. I think they try and keep McClain and hand a modest contract to Carter. Then again, he played well enough down the stretch that some team might overpay for him. LB Corps of Lee, McClain, Hitchens, all of them here for 3-4 years would be pretty awesome. Melton is gone, he disappeared after a strong start. I think they try and keep Spencer, but again, some team might overpay for him. Dallas has done fairly well the last couple of years in trying to manage their money better so they probably have a dollar figure for a lot of these guys that they would be willing to spend on them before walking away.
Draft has to include defensive line, including a big guy in the middle, and a CB. If they do decide to let Murrey walk this is probably the draft to do it. With Dunbar and Randle they could work a pretty good 1-2 punch and they'll have options for RB in 2nd and 3rd round.
Overall, when it comes down to it, this was a team that 95% of all pundits predicted to go 6-10 or worse. If they can get better on defense, we're looking at probably a good 3-4 year run of being competitive. Caveats: Romo has to stay healthy and if they don't draft a QB this year then they have to do it next. If Romo goes down and they don't have a decent option behind him, the wheels are going to fall off fast.
