Fangio is on his way out. I think this was the wrong move for the 49ers

There's something to be said for promoting from within when you are a successful team with an established culture. I wonder what this means for Fangio though. Having a guy who was below you in the organization being made your boss would rub a lot of guys the wrong way.
I hear what you are saying and I readily admit I know next to nothing about his possible head coaching credentials. I just have been quietly worried about what kind of moves York was going to make now that he has his shiny new stadium and doesn't need to win over voters anymore. Plus I have PTSD from the last time the 49ers promoted a position coach from within.

So apparently there was almost a month after the Super Bowl last year when John Elway was trying to hire coaches on the sly to push out John Fox and only brought him back and extended him after he couldn't get his top two targets. That sounds ridiculous but multiple people are saying that's the reason behind the massive delay in confirming he would be back last season. It's also apparently why Fox leaked the story to Glazer the morning of the game last weekend.

Makes you wonder what coach wants to deal with a broken down Peyton and a GM who will fire you for going to the Super Bowl. It almost has to be Kubiak because he has a personal relationship with Elway. Who else would want to deal with that?

What the hell is wrong with these owners/GMs? I mean, yah let's make life miserable for the guys that win three or four division titles in a row and get our team super bowl appearences! Niners and donkeys are retarded.

Lots of Ravens fans pinning their hopes on Kubiak NOT wanting to deal with that. The guy almost killed himself head coaching the Texans. Now he's going to take a rebuilding job with who knows what at QB or maybe a questionable Manning??? Either way you're looking at a fuck ton of FA and roster questions from trying to buy into a quick ring or two during Peyton's window.

Rumor is he's building a house in the Baltimore area too, but I'm not sure where that's coming from. Seems like a better job for a young first timer looking for experience (like Gase) who can bounce back from a two to three year stint that ends in firing. And not to be too much of a homer, but wouldn't it seem like looking at it right now the Ravens would be a more likely place to get a ring than Denver?

Spending big money on a running back is a surefire way to lead you into salary cap issues because of the real finite shelf life that they have, especially when compared to wide receivers or quarterbacks of equal level of play.

The Chargers are having issues with their running backs as well. They are spending to much on them. Matthews was hurt a lot and Brown just sucks so far.

Per Schefter:

Late entry into Redskins' defensive coordinator consideration is 49ers DC Vic Fangio, who's not returning to SF.

Enjoy what you have wrought 49ers. They were talking about San Francisco on Sirius last night and said the 49ers have a talented roster which is true. They also said they have spent the last couple years in Seattles shadow because they are just better. Enjoy more years of this with the attitude of Superbowl win or bust.

DeMarco Murray, Dallas Cowboys disagree on value - NFL.com

LOL. So is it an offer so that he rejects it and they get AP/Lynch this offseason? No wonder they ran him into the ground this year.
With RBs it's a buyer's market. He might get paid more elsewhere but he won't have the same level of success unless their line is good. Dallas has two good backups so they could easily go back to a committee run. And, as I said before, this is the year to pick up a RB in the draft if they're so inclined. As good as Murray was, and he was good, this is the first year since they drafted him that he went all 16 games. They're right not to offer him a huge contract.

AP is still under contract with the Vikings, they don't know what they're going to do with him yet (per their GM). I could see Jerry making a trade but he's been reasonable since Garrett took over HC so I could also see it not happening, especially since AP is a bit aged by this point.

Which is why I don't see it happening. If they get a high dollar player from elsewhere, it needs to be on defense. The offense was not the problem, they need a defense that can step up and stop the Aaron Rodgers of the league.

We will be happy to trade you Mathews. He is pretty similar to Murray, pretty good and breaks every season. Probably less then 4 million too!
