looks awful
idk. looks ok maybe.

the dude was pretty hilarious for quite a while. I do think, he burned himself out. And I'm not sure his type of comedy really lands well these days..

Yeah, I don't care if it sucks ass, I've blamed so many things on "The Pentavrate" over the years that I simply have to watch this at least once. I've showed that clip from So I Married an Axe Murderer to so many people over the years in explanation, I should probably get a cut of the residuals from all the extra streams the movie got.

Ended up watching Bad Vegan last night. This stupid bitch got taken for 6 million dollars by her mentally unstable boyfriend. Not the greatest of watches but amusing nonetheless. Unsurprisingly, the mental boyfriend was friends with Alec Baldwin and he (Baldwin) wanted to fuck the chick in this for a while.

Vegan‘s are basket cases:

Honestly, the trailer just makes it look like a memberberries of all the characters Meyers played in Austin Powers.

I was a yuge fan, but I thought he was kinda done and retired, and I was all right with that.

Hopefully this is not a Brady/Favre return from retirement (yes, this is me predicting Brady is going to suck this year, in a cross thread/section post for the ages).

This was weird. A lot of it felt scripted. I'm still trying to figure out who records themselves having arguments with their crying girlfriends on their phones... often.

I just watched the first two episodes of The Orbital Children and it is actually pretty good. I despise shows about kids, not even sure why I gave this a shot (I DO like survival stories though, that is probably why), but this is so far decent in spite of that.

Edit - Finished it, was pretty good. Essentially the story was about the perils of unfettered AI growth, mixed with a little bit of Humans Suck and will destroy the world if they don't get help, but that last part was muted enough it wasn't too offensive. Surrounded by every Anime trope ever created, but that's okay, it's part of the package.

Price increase seems worse than i thought. Basic $10 is 480p limited . Thought it was at least 780 before. So $15 if i don't want fuzzy shit? And it appears to apply even on pc? Granted i mainly watch at work on phone.

It was okay. Rapace did a great job, as always. She kind of reminds me of a female Tom Cruise - always getting beat up in movies but plowing on through. She's a much better actor though lol.

Anyway, movie is about an unspecified war against an unspecified opponent - woman loses daughter, spends movie doing special mission with the promise of being reunited with said daughter. It is pretty dark and dreary, but plays the atmosphere of hopelessness pretty well. Couple of the character twists are lame, but overall the acting was very good. The ending was a little contrived and forced, but did not ruin the movie for me. It could have been a wee bit shorter as well. Prob a solid 7.5/10. I will say that it was the first movie in a while that I watched all in one sitting.

The specific interesting thing about this movie is its insistence in non-specificity. The landmarks have Swedish names but I think they are fictional and the country is never named. The enemy is never identified by name. It is never revealed if there was a nuclear war or all conventional, aside from one point where Rapace mentions to her daughter: "that's not snow, that is ash. The cities are on fire." Rapace's character's background is never explained but apparently she can skate really well so she was chosen for the mission. Same as the other characters. It is all left very vague so you have to focus on the horrible conditions of the right now, and is actually done well and doesn't get annoying. I craved more backstory but did not suffer not getting it.

Idiots and progressives are trying to draw Ukraine parallels but it is all projection bullshit. As far as I am concerned it was a show of how war is simply shit no matter who is fighting, and you never really know if you are on the "good" side.

Tom Cruise is a way better action star, but as an "actor" he rates low for me. We've had this discussion elsewhere not very long ago. I will watch any movie he is in, no question, but I don't consider him one of my favorite actors, which is weird and almost unexplainable.

Does that makes sense?

I didnt want to just edit your post to be more specific but its less about Tom and more about Noomi. She isn't good. Her defining role was her best role. She was stellar in the first movie of the trilogy. Her work beyond the trilogy is passable. She hasn't shown me any real range at all. She is mostly the same in every role I have seen. Just my opinion of course. Tom is much the same way sadly, because the rare times he goes outside the box he can be awesome (Tropic Thunder).

I thought she was really good in The Drop. And more recently Close. But the more I think about it, the more like Cruise she is in my head. I've never thought of her as a top actor in my mind but I instinctively thought she was better than Cruise. But going through her IMDB and thinking in my head what I thought of her in the ones I saw, I think my opinion of her is more on level with Cruise for the most part.

That being said, I won't watch whatever Rapace is in - I ain't ever watching that movie about the goat-kid.

You've revealed my lies to myself!!!!!!!!!

Shit! I just watched that recently as well, and completely forgot she was in it, which is actually an argument for Sanrith's point lol.

But, yeah, the movie was decent and so was she!

Edit - and another movie where she gets her ass beat repeatedly. Her roles have a trend, for the most part lol.

She was pretty good in this but you know who fucking KILLED IT, right? Bill Burr. That motherfucker actually had me believing he could speak Norwegian. I had no idea he had that kind of range.

I'm not saying Noomie is a shitty actress like say Kristen Stewart. She is serviceable. I just think she has zero range. Except for Millennium, she just does the same stuff and has a limited emotional range. Again, the comparison to Cruise is fair, because he generally plays kind of the same schtick as well.

For comparison Daniel Day Lewis is a master of the craft. So is Gary Oldman. They can do anything and it's believable.
