Should have got a movie of a Predator in Japan going to retrieve looted Predator gear given to the Yutani corporation and then killing hunting down and killing everyone that tried to study it.

That actually sounds awesome so expect the next reboot to be AvP3 Pg-13.

2 predator ships are fighting in space, one opens a warp gate to earth and crashes in the middle of a drug cartel/US sniper mission, which is where our hero is. Our hero knocks the predator unconscious and steals his weapon and cloaking marble and mails it to his hometown, where his ex(?)wife and son live, who is an 8 year old with aspergers. We spend some time with the kid doing spergy shit.
Sterling Brown leads a US govt team that takes the predator to a research lab, where they bring in Olivia Munn who is a biology specialist to study it. They also capture our hero and interview him and send him on a bus to the mental hospital or something, the other passengers are our cast who are all mental patient soldiers.
The second predator gets to Earth and starts hunting the first predator, he unleashes two predator dogs to track him.
They all end up at the kids school at night on Halloween, where the big predator ends up killing the first predator and rips out his spine. He wants something on the first predators ship.
Sterling Brown does an exposition dump where he somehow mysteriously knows that the predators are coming to Earth more because our species is gonna go extinct soon due to global warming (uhhhh.... ok) and they harvest "the best of us" DNA to improve themselves, and he thinks eventually they will move into Earth after we wipe ourselves out because they like hot planets. Its a 5 minute "HOW THE FUCK DO YOU KNOW THIS SHIT" retarded ass scene.
They go to the predators ship, all our humans fight each other and then super predator starts taking people out and blows up the ship. He then informs our hero that he will get a 8 minute headstart and he is going to take a little predator break and hunt everyone and take his DNA as a prize.
Blah blah fighting fight then we find out he wants the little kids DNA because apparently having aspergers makes you a superior human being. Thats right, the next generation of predators is going to self-retard themselves.
Olivia Munn and the kid and their new predator dog pet team up to kill the super predator, then we find out the first predator brought a super weapon to help humans fight the predator race. Not something that'll solve global warming, a cyber suit with weapons.
the end

no, that sounds like the plot of Robocop 3 where the japs took over and robo puts on a flying backpack and arm gun to fight robo samurais that end up slicing each other up

yep, when Predator came out and me and my friends were talking about it, what we talked about most was arnold getting completely clowned in toe to toe hand combat. at that time Arnold was in his absolute prime. watching him get the shit beat out of him was huge. then you have jesse "the body" totally blindsided. then you get the minigun which at the time was the BFG all gun enthusiasts drooled over. and all it did was nick him. all these guys failed, whether it was individually or when they all worked together as a team. it made no difference. Arnold survived from dumb luck with the mud, then he lucked out at the end when all his intended traps failed to fool the Predator, but he Hail Mary'd that log drop. Predator 2 is still a good movie because they followed that theme. a top cop squad and all the gangsters in 1996 LA were toys to that Predator, even the fucking government spooks failed. hell, even Danny Glover should have died too, but he got a bunch of gimmes and thats how he won.
i said this was damage control even if the reshoots were needed, because now they can just say, "sorry guys, my original movie would have been awesome, but the studio heads tinkered with my " vision (TM)" and so now it sucks because of that. maybe i will release my director's cut on blue ray so please buy that and help stop the bleeding? pretty please?"

Surviving from dumb luck was a great part as well as the tried and true building up for success. Arnold put tons of work into his final fight and while he was lucky, he was prepared as well. The problem today is there are no good writers in Hollywood. Much like academia, people have been moved up for no other reason than they fit a standard. Look at the top grossing movies of the past 18 years. Rehashes of old franchises, comic book films, Harry Potter, Pixar, and LotR. Outside of a few unique hits, that's it. Compare it to other time periods and the cupboards are bare. They want to put their unique take, but they just aren't talented enough to do it well.

I don't care who's name is behind the movie. It's usually pushing an agenda because they can't fucking write anymore. It's pathetic what they shit out today. No wonder Netflix found a foothold.

Edit- to be fair, there could be some awesome writers that aren't getting a chance to show their work today. There are lots of options though now. I guess we'll see in a few years but Netflix/Amazon are also producing mostly garbage.

With an estimated $24 million, 20th Century Fox's The Predator took the weekend's #1 spot, but the film has little to celebrate. Debuting in 4,037 theaters, the film's opening is the worst for a live-action film opening in over 4,000 locations, unseating The Mummy, which previously held the distinction after its $31.6 million opening in 4,035 theaters last summer. The opening currently falls short of even 2010's Predators which opened with $24.76 million in just 2,669 locations. That film went on to gross just over $52 million.

The Predator received a disappointing "C+" CinemaScore from opening day audiences. Weekend crowds were 62% male with 66% of the audience coming in 25 years of age or older. These are the exact same demos Alien: Covenant saw last year, and should The Predator deliver a similar 2.05x multiplier we're looking at a domestic run just shy of $50 million.

Action movies are dead. We have no new Schwarzeneggers or Stallones, we have no movies like their best ones.

all we get is shit like this and comic book movies.

the entire genre just rolled over and died.

How dare you! Tom Cruise is still kicking, and his newest effort performed well at the box office.

I just want to point out that this makes you a bad father, only excuse for not watching these with him by this age is you walked out on him before he was 10.

...and you were doing so well there....
He already fucked up with Dark Knight. I mentioned "comic book movies".

And Fast Furious? I didn't see that many, how often do people shoot big guns in these? Car movies are not action movies when referring to the glorious 80s and early 90s.

What was the car in Terminator 2 the T-1000 clawed his way into? No one knows, but it was no Nissan Skyline GTR or some other tuned up ricer.
