Does anyone have an experience with Kill Team? How is it?
Haven't played it yet (Warcry is my main but I have a couple KT boards and teams I'm working on in the background) but I follow it pretty closely. Cliff's notes version:

They split the ruleset off into its own ruleset instead of a bastardized version of 40k.
Game is much more lethal than the previous version and individual movement and positioning matters. Move your gunner sitting out of cover and he'll get lit up.
The line of sight / cover / targeting rules seem very obtuse as they are written, but are fairly intuitive once you start playing with them.
If you are coming from 40k, chances are you can play your faction but a lot of the 40k factions still have placeholder teams in the compendium that came out at release. Almost all the "good" teams with unique specialists and special rules are the ones that came in one of the box sets or printed in White Dwarf.
Overall, a lot of stuff has been streamlined, but the game is pretty crunchy, tactical, and skill based.

Let me know if you had any other questions. There's a couple good YouTube channels and Discord servers I follow.

My first 3 magazines came. Great deal. Going to build up a Ultramarine army and expand the necrons.

So I am thinking about getting into 40k tabletop, and I'd like to build a Space Marine Army. I am highly interested in the army I build be painting around Carcharodon chapter.

From what I can tell, there isnt an actual rule set for them. So does that mean that there are general space marine rules that I would have to follow?

My knowledge of 40k, both lore and actual games, very is limited, but growing.

I appreciate the response(s).

Yes you just need the Space Marine Codex (and course the official rulebook)

As a Successor Chapter without a formalized ruleset, you can choose to be a Successor of any of the main marine factions. This allows you to use most of that Faction's rules, just no Named Characters from that Faction and only one Faction relic (which is generally all you need). You can also choose from a table of Successor Chapter Bonuses instead of the main bonus for that faction if you don't like their Chapter Tactic, making the successors often more flexible and stronger. The Carcharadons are all about ambushing folks and tearing them apart in melee, so White Scars or Space Wolves are probably good chapters to look at for your "parent" rules if you want to mimic that

Yep.

There is a guy in my office that is a master-class painter. I commissioned him to paint me up 4 Legendary Lords models (Karl Franz, Gotrek, Skarbrand, and Ikit Claw) here this week and I will post them in the miniature thread when they are done.

I personally have 0 artistic skills, but I am willing for these 4 models to go all the way in quality.

My imperium magazines arrived today. Imperium for the new guys is a monthly sub similar to White Dwarf that sends you models, paints, terrain, dice and other gaming supplies. It also has cool lore pertaining to the Necrons and Ultramarines. Great for newcomers but I want a Ultramarine army and to expand Necron army to over 6k points.

What does 6k points physically look like? Last time I played most games were 1500 / 2000 an you could expect to see like 1-2 vehicles, 2-3 sqauds and 1-3 special characters. 6k sounds like a nightmare hah

For Necron’s it’s big but not insane like tyranids, IG or orks. Monoliths and special characters can add a few thousand points. I just wanna have every Necron model unit in my army since it’s my favorite to play. Also could do a lore campaign battle where IG and space marines team up.
This guy 5k army has nothing on my IG. My buddy has well over 6k he gave me.

I am almost done with Betrayer and man what a great book. I’m really digging the Ultramarines now for some reason. I always hated them until this book. sukik sukik and I been talking lore on a nightly basis. I’m going to try to get him on the 40k crack pipe too.

I also wanted to add for the newcomers and maybe Muurloen Muurloen is that the sub also comes with a connected story. Each magazine has a small skirmish with a cool little story that is intertwined with the next magazine. It has a necromuda (kill team) vibe. Each new magazine has the battle start to grow and of course fighting over blackstone Necron pylons is pretty cool. City and Necron Terrain will come eventually in these packs.

If you are looking for a space marine army, the ultra marines easily can be converted to another. Just paint them different.

God damn, I hope they don't fucking ruin squats like they've ruined so many other factions.

Maybe they'll have a lore threeway with the Necrons and Blood Angels, but who gets to be the fucking unicorn then?

I'm literally going to try watching at least HALF of Auspex Tactic's THREE HOUR Chaos codex review tonight.

From shit I've already read elsewhere, some of it will inevitably irritate the shit out of me. No jump pack Chaos Lords? Reduction of terminator wargear? A giant razor-bladed dildo taken to longstanding armies when it comes to WYSIWYG? Fuuuuuuuck
