So you'd rather hundreds die than have a file an insurance claim. Spoken like a true bleeding heart liberal.

It was fun waiting for you to get around to that as if it was slow pitch.

Not wanting my house flattened is pretty terrible, I agree.

154 mph wind gusts now on that station now. Pretty nuts that thing is cranking out data still.

Looks like strait up steel but the equipment still working is nuts. Guess it's doing what it's built for.

the wind thingy broke.

Yeah, it's rip. It was pumping out pressure readings for a little bit. It seems to have topped out at 921 and then no more updates. This is on the south western side of the storm too so the winds aren't as strong as they are on the north eastern side.

Pretty sure 99% of the people living in the keys are gay (at least that was the popular stereotype/whatever when I was living in south florida).

Seems like this would be one of the worst case scenarios for the US? Southeast FL is right on the edge of the eye so they still get fucked then it makes landfall as an extremely powerful hurricane in the Carolinas where they're not prepared for this shit at all. Unless your hope here is just that it doesn't hit the keys?

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...185 MPH...295 KM/H
PRESENT MOVEMENT...WNW OR 285 DEGREES AT 16 MPH...26 KM/H
MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...918 MB...27.11 INCHES

Seems to be lacking some details. Guess they didn't fly in cycle. So maybe more info in 3 hours.

Those forecasts this morning are looking ugly for here since we're a barrier island.

Now the GFS AND Euro have it scraping the east coast.
I think they will continue to show it nailing Florida all day because that scrape could change and showing anything less than an impact at this point may make some people not take it seriously. It is a dangerous thing all in all. What time do you head out?

"The initial motion is 285/14. Irma is currently being steered by
the subtropical ridge to the north, and a general west-
northwestward motion on the south side of the ridge is expected
during the next 48-72 h. This portion of the forecast track is
little changed and is in best overall agreement with the ECMWF
model. The forecast has become more uncertain after 72 h due to
large eastward shifts by the ECMWF, Canadian, and HWRF models
related to forecasts of the mid- to upper-level trough over the
southeastern United States."

Anything still in play.
