Since MS is now disabling the most common ways to bypass registering an account in the new W11 build, here's a working method by the man. Might save you headaches in the future, at least until they patch this out too.

This isn't my Reddit post but I was today years old when I learned this. Sharing for the others that are having to suffer the indignity that is Windows 11. This changes the 'show other options' right click menu to always start with the 'other options'. FYI - Shift + Right click does the same thing.

That's why I came to despise Windows 11. Inconsistent look of the menus and dialogs. Just a mishmash of new and old styling.

Are you using adobe software ? They've taken "inconsistent UI" to a whole new level. I think every major Acrobat reader patch changes the layout of the UI, bloat everything in more sub-menus, and make opening PDFs slower because "AI can help you summarize this !" For some reason I have 2 version of InDesign on my computer, and their (terrible) hub software only detects one of them.
And we pay for this. It's like a car where every wheel was designed by a different company without talking to each other.

On a more on-topic subject, I will be installing Bazzite (linux for gaming) on my gaming computer this weekend since win10 is no longer supported and I cannot install win11 since I have a i7-8000 serie CPU. I have no prior experience with Linux except for some stuff on Raspberry, so we'll see how it goes.

Please keep us updated on how that goes. I'm not at that point yet, but I'm considering it.

Maybe this was mentioned earlier, but you can use Rufus to make a bootable windows installer that will will have options to bypass online account creation, and the TPM / processor restrictions. The only downside I’ve experienced, is that for feature updates like 24h2 to 25h2, you’ll probably need to reinstall. Other patches should load normally.

I haven’t tried it using 25h2 that was just released, but it’s worked for previous versions.

ISO download near the bottom.

I have to deal with windows workstation and server at work, so I’m used to the BS. Long term I hope Linux gaming becomes more competitive. I think we’re getting there, but windows is still just way easier for the average person to use. Even with Microsoft being Microsoft.

I swapped to CachyOS awhile back and have zero regrets. I still have a windows install on a separate drive I can boot into for anything I need it for. Which, so far has just consisted of Battlefield 6.

I've decided to install bazzite on a 2nd SSD, it should arrive today and I will proceed this evening with the installation.

I'm in the same boat with my non-gaming PC. It's an AMD 3700, with an older AMD video card (570 I think??) but zero way I can install 11 without faking it. I need to get off my ass and back it up then I plan to play with Linux OS's.

All AMD should make linux a breeze since its all baked in.

I did an upgrade during Prime Day, got a new B850 motherboard and Ryzen 9 7900x. I typically go with Linux Mint, but...here we go: audio wasn't working. Apparently lacks support for the new Realtek ALC4080 chipset and I could NOT get it to work. So, installed the new flavor of the month CachyOS and all good. It's actually quite nice, honestly.

The biggest thing is how snappy and smooth Linux desktops are now on modern hardware and how Windows 11 now runs like shit. My, how times have changed.

CachyOS is what I'm using and really dig it. Works pretty much out of the box but it gives you the tools if you want to dig in deeper to do so.

Are you running the Plasma desktop? Linux Mint's default is Cinnamon which I quite like. But decided to try out Plasma and it's pretty kick ass. I've never been a big fan of KDE, but it's been years since I've played with it.

Yeah using Plasma and whatever else CachyOS used for defaults.
