Last week I went on a 3 day canoe trip in 20 degree weather, while wearing a straw hat, tweed jacket, Oxford shirt, and tie. Made a portable bar, and then proceeded to make Brandy crustas. Did some of the hardest river I've ever done. Flipped into cold ass water, lost my tarp, went into shock, did a 1/3 of a mile portage around a log jam the likes of which I've only seen in history books. Slept in a hammock in gale force winds and driving rain with no tarp. Winds snapped my paracord holding up my makeshift poncho rainfly. Got soaked, went into hypothermia. Got up and built a fire and made some more brandy crustas in the rain.

Old? Fuck that. I feel more alive every day. Do more stupid shit.

Technology has made a shift where everything seems to have lost its intuitiveness. It takes significant amount of time to get anything done with new technology, when I distinctly remember in the past being able to do this stuff quickly and easily. I used to live on computer; now it just rages me and there are days where I don't even turn it on - newer computers don't stay running like older ones did.
This post was destined for Rustled Jimmies, but the end result is what's most frustrating: Not understanding or being able to use new technology makes me feel old; it makes me feel like the old folks I laughed at when I was young.

You know, sometimes I have thoughts like yours Sacel, but then I think, when was the last time I had a GPF running Win7? The answer is: never. How many times did I have them back in the Win 9x days? All the fucking time. Sure, I'm nostalgic as hell for the "good old days", having to edit config.sys and autoexec.bat then reboot my computer whenever I wanted to run a new game, or rage at webpages with lots of images cos they took forever to load on my 56k modem, or having to fuck about with jumper settings when changing hardware. Then I think of all the good shit we have now: Steam with my 100+ games I can load without a restart, chuckling at Fedor's tranny pics and installing a new HDD by just sticking it in and plugging the fucker up.

Sure, it does mean that we're not as exclusive as we once were. I remember back in the day when the only fucking people on the net were geeks. I miss being one of only a couple of people in my class who could own a PC and keep it running (teachers included). And probably what I miss most is not having capitalised on that and gone into a tech career back when everything was new and fresh (I went into humanities. I know, stupid). But still, if I had a chance to go back 20 years or stay here, I'd stay here in a heart beat. As much as things such as FB and others piss me off the ability to load up NetFlix or YouTube or play a game with my friends without having to know each other's IP addresses or such is just such heaven.

I got up after sitting down for a while and my butt hurt.

This is an old/fat/bad chair issue. But still.. what the fuck. Sitting has never made my butt hurt! Fuck you, butt!

I'm still young (26), but I've always wondered whether the pace of technological progression outpaces an aged mind's ability to adapt to it. Or whether, it is simply a generational issue.

When you go to see your doctor and the majority of answers as to "how do we figure out this problem" involve a colonoscopy....

Oh Lord, that is a fear of mine.
I'm not one to get sick and/or go to the doctor, but its getting to the point where I know I need to, to start taking care of myself. I just had blood drawn for the first time last week and I get to hear what we learned thurs from the dr.
