Even my tribal link (yes I am THAT old) on the inside of the bicep was just annoyance +1.
I have a big tribal dragon in the middle of my back that I got just after boot camp in 2003.

All of my family and friends lovingly refer to it as "The stupid tribal seahorse"

I think I understand what you mean. You want black bands horizontal across the leg with a space between for additions. It could work if you go to a guy who is expert in geometry/band tattoos. Average Joe is going to have an intensely hard time banding your leg and having it look smooth and straight, however, if you’re doing it higher than the ankle. A man’s leg isn’t perfectly cylindrical, and the edges of your calf muscle will pull and distort the lines so they look wobbly. That’s why you only usually see geometry bands around the forearm.

I just did a Celtic band wrap around a guys arm. It was complicated for the fact it had to frame a preexisting tattoo, but even without that difficulty it took a lot of measuring, tweaking in photoshop, laying it over and over til it was right. If you’re going to go for this project, anticipate it will take a shitload of planning and experimentation unless you go to a specialist.

Had a Brazilian artist bulldoze over my nipple on a chest piece. Wasn’t part of the stencil. That was fun.

Lmao. Go with god my guy

I had a celtic knotwork band done around my upper arm 25yrs ago.

I wanted it to be single needle, and they didn't tell me no. Sadly all the detail has blurred.

It was annoying on the inside of the bicep, but overall not bad. Maybe a 3/10.

For comparison I just had an EMG done, in 2 parts, on the same arm. The first part was with electrodes and 'mild' shocks, and the 2nd part with needles in the muscle.

That was much worse than the tattoo. Arm flopping around like a fish whenever she gave me a jolt, and an elderly nurse getting pissed because I kept 'jerking my arm'. Like, bitch, you're sitting here shocking me and we both know you've done this before, so fuck off.

The worst part was when she asked if I was an electrician. When I said yes, she says "Oh, I can tell, electricians are always the worst". I tried boring a hole through her skull with my eyes but to no avail.

If I had to choose between having the Iliad tattooed on my taint vs another EMG, I'd go with the taint.

I've been playing with an idea for a tattoo.
I'm thinking maybe on my lower leg... imagine a couple of lines that go around the leg and then in the space between them I would want to incrementally add stuff, like maybe starting with one symbol and then keep adding to it over time, once the symbols go all around the leg we get a new line and more space for more symbols.
I'm not sure if I'm explaining my thoughts correctly, but...

Is this realistic? or dumb?
The idea here is that I would like to add symbols after achieving certain goals, so like a growing tatoo where each symbol has its own personal meaning to me.
Sounds like you just rewatched Memento.

I also have a tribal eagle that people keep referring to as a Nazi bird.

Did the standard tribal tattoo on my shoulder as a fresh hospitality worker with mostly white trash friends right out of high school. Guy went too deep in a few spots and I was actively working the line at the time, so of course it bled out in some spots. Had it "fixed" in that the guy filled in the bled out spots, but also randomly filled in some of the intentional blank spots as well - started to just look like a big ass spiky black circle. Had some color added to offset it and this third artist went too deep on the linework, so I ended up with some light scarring/raised parts (looked a lot better though).

Became an actual adult, realized I didn't want shitty tribal stuff on my arm, found a legit artist and not just a random tattoo shop guy, and got the entire left sleeve done and covered the tribal crap up during Covid (didn't realize a pandemic was about to happen, and had gotten lots of outlines/etc done right before all of California shut down. The shop was really great though and we managed to sneak in most the sessions during lockdown while the place was "closed." Looks f'n great, glad I got the tribal shit covered. Definitely glad I don't work in industries where there's a constant risked of rubbing the tattoo against shit/chef's coats while healing anymore. Needed almost zero touchup. Aside from lasik, probably the best $5k I've ever spent.

Yeah, I’ve had a few tap outs. One was a very ambitious girl who wanted the chakras all the way down her spine. Another one was this poor lady who was completely out of sorts about this tiny mole on the back of her upper leg (her husband got on her case about it.) to camouflage it she picked a giant Brazilian indigenous girl’s head with a headdress, absurdly huge for what she wanted to cover…she tapped out before I could start the head dress, was a sweaty crying mess, never came back to finish it.

Most people are good for it. If someone’s being a wimp about it you try and talk them up, because if someone isn’t staying still and is squirming all over the place you have to nip that shit in the bud or you’re not getting the ink in the way you need to.

My boss tattooed some thot that went viral on TikTok or something. She came in with a posse and as soon as she started getting tattooed (getting filmed, of course) she started yelling very loudly and saying stupid shit. Went on for about ten minutes before another artist barged in and told her to pipe down because she was being fucking ridiculous. Every once and a while you get a girl who turns it into a performance but they’re few and far between.

Its not like that.
I'm looking to tattoo certain milestones into recovery, such that I can't deny/down play them, because they would be literally inked on me.
You could also just be an adult, use an online spreadsheet.

Yes, I have tattooed a penis. Great guy, wonderful client, been working on him since the start of my career, another girl and I have been filling in his body suit the last 4 years. She did the lion’s share on his piece but he’s got both of our artist signatures on it.
