Well he didn't play tonight, but not sure that'll change your mind.

Doesn't matter. It's still true. That's the shit the team is used to having behind them, they're not going to play up, they're going to accept the inevitable defeat that comes from having him in goal.

Freddy has been a consistently good goalie behind them with a .917 just about every year despite having trouble in Octobers. Guy has done it while playing more games, facing more shots, etc, than anyone else in the last couple of years. Hes a top 10, if not top 5, goalie in the league. If you arnt satisfied with him, you arnt going to be satisfied with anyone.

Props to Lundqvist tonight. Feel like this game could have been really out of hand if he doesn't make some of the saves he did, especially in the 2nd.

The officiating in this Toronto/Columbus game is fucking unreal. The exact same situation they called tripping on Toronto which resulted in Columbus' third goal to tie the game has happened to Toronto not once, not twice, but three times in the last three minutes. Now it goes to overtime. Fuck you, refs.

Shitty officiating is just a part of the sport these days. It's no longer If a team gets a bad call, it's which team gets the most that decides games. That's why teams with elite special teams go the farthest. I can literally predict when a make up call will be issued, before it happens. Without fail.

This sport is in such a bad place, rule wise. They aren't inconsistent night to night, but game to game and seemingly with impunity.

At least it's better than the NFL, with an 82 game season you can get fucked a few times by the refs and still make the playoffs. 16 games and you get boned a time or two? Hello early offseason.

Also feels like they will ref to the score or against teams with good special teams...like the other night in Chicago, Caps get early PP and go 1 for 1, not a single PP rest of the game while Chicago gets 5. Can't tell you how many games if the Caps go 1 for 1 or 2 for 2 on early PP's we can't buy a call the rest of the night. Sometimes that's enough, but it's annoying as hell watching us have to kill 5 or 6 penalties until the other team scores to "even it up".

Toronto looks just fucking awful. Hutchinson lets of rebounds like you can't believe, and the rest of the team seems asleep. I was hopeful for this year, but I'll be surprised if they make the playoffs.

Carlson with 20 points in October, Ovechkin "quietly" with 7 goals. Noted goal scorer Tom Wilson on the board again. Good things.

Wings looked good through 2 periods against the Canucks, then they shat themselves in the 3rd. Coughed up 5 goals, including an empty netter that gave Horvat a hat trick. At least Svech looked good. Ericsson was put on waivers, but no sane GM will pick him up. Maybe he'll be doing a bit of rehab in Grand Rapids.

It may only be ECHL, but it's good to be going to games again.

After having watched Panarin closely over the past 8 games, I have come to the conclusion that Chicago are out of their fucking minds.
