I thought early-on this show was really good, but as the seasons went on it just became dumb. The weird stories they started doing (beckett in the fbi or whatever, castle's private firm) were just very strange and to me killed the show for me.

I think Ryan and Esposito could have a spin-off show that would be awesome.

something happened ~season 5 to season 6 and nathan -apparently- hated the idea of them being together- and the story lines went down hill from there.

ratings wise--season 8<7<6=5>4>3>2>1

the series peaked seasons 5 and 6 WHEN THEY WERE A COUPLE/ENGAGED.. then whatever happend and the story lines started keeping them separate and the ratings went down significantly post the disaster of the season 6 finale. season 7 lost castle about 2-3 million viewers "live" due to the finale of season 6 (the disappearance) and it's been down hill from there.

now i have to watch the episodes since april 11th since i had no desire to watch the show when i learned stana was gone if it got renewed.

Scuttlebutt is that the two stars hated each other, mostly because Fillion is a diva/bully. That could have played into things.

to me that says he was sick of being castle.

Well essentially Castle was a bumbling idiot from start to finish. I could see that getting tiring.

no castle was NOT a bumbling idiot to start. rewatch the first 4 seasons.

he was a Smart, witty, smartass, full of innuendo and fun. who also was a sweet and honest family dad.

around season 5 he started to be the bumbling idiot more and more.

The show went majorly downhill for me all the way back when Demming showed up. They started sacrificing Castle the character to turn the show into Beckett!

When it started into having the characters change for the plot is when I think it started downhill. That is also when Castle started turning into a bumbling caricature of what he was before too. He used to know a ton of off the wall tidbits and "Knew a guy" from past research for his book, then he became a Beckett supercop groupie, and was reduced to spit takes and reaction shots while panting after Beckett.

And yes I am quite a bit butthurt over the whole thing, I mean I really did like the show back then, I still enjoyed some of the eps and some of the flashes of what the characters were from years ago but they just got worse and worse. Watch any of season 1 or 2 up to Demming and you can see the difference to then and now. The only episodes where Castle was anything close to those early ones was the bomb flashback episode for the 100th and the stuff with Alexis missing. Well I guess 3xk too. Bleh. I am glad it is over now, I hope they all find better work than these last couple years were.

Its fine, it was good tv early on. Later it wasn't.

I refuse to believe Nathan is a bully, every out take with him I have seen in every show he has the cast laughing and everyone genuinely looks like they are having a good time. Faked? Edited? Maybe, but I live in then Nathan F. is an awesome guy world and I plan to stay there.

Yeah, except for this thing with Stana Katic I've never really seen anything or heard anything bad about Fillion.

I think was tired of being Castle on the Beckett! show. It would not suprise me one bit that he was tired of Stana Katic being the focus of everything. He has paid his dues, he worked his ass off to get Castle made early on and was having a blast, he said all through the first 2 years "This guy is me". Around season 5-6 he made the quote when asked what he would do if he met Castle in real life. "I would punch him in the face"

That is not someone who is happy where the character is going. I bet since it couldn't be done without Katic he is happier to just move on. So kinda in another way that Beckett! has fucked him over again.

There is a Booster Gold movie in production now.

If anyone at Warner animated had half a brain they would get Nathan Fillion and Billy West in a room and make a Booster Gold cartoon.

Having not kept up with Castle since about season 5, the girlfriend and I had some good laughs at how bad this show seemed to have ended up. Felt like they added about 10 seconds of footage to the end of their original season cliffhanger and called it a day lmao

That was one of her best episodes of the season.

Go figure, naw there was a slightly different voice over I bet... just instead of "happily ever after scene ", it would have most likely been her funeral.
