Well its released now. I'm playing Hungary for my first game. Its turn 83, and holy god, Hungary is utterly broken OP. I've levied a single city-state (with its 6 warriors) and I'm fighting 3 other civs at once (Spain, Georgia and Netherlands) on 2 fronts and I'm just rolling over them. I researched swordsman tech and levied troops get free upgrades. No gold, no iron, just have the tech and suddenly I have 6 swordsmen, and not just swordsmen but swordsmen with +5 strength and 4 move. Spain has lost one city and is about to lose its capital which will leave it with just the city state it conquored. Netherlands has had 1 city razed by a lone swordsman and is losing another soon leaving it with 2, and Georgia has lost one which was on my way to Spain, and has 3 left. And I still have 17 turns left on the levy out of the original 30 and the cash to re-up the levy if needed. They are so totally doomed.
Edit- Ok, not as doomed as I thought- Spain is dead and its victim liberated, and Netherlands did lose that city, but Georgia held on with the help of big walls, Victor and the unexpected massive increase in the price of re-levying my city-state resulting in the sudden removal of my swordsmen. But I broke open a good breathing space for myself from my original position of being surrounded and limited to 3 cities, so now I can grow, and next time... next time.... Well using the same city state will get me 5 experienced swordsmen and 3 crossbowmen at least, so...
Edit #2- Second levy of the same city state is complete and Georgia is toast, and with 1 turn to spare so are the Maori. Bit of a traffic jam heading north to finish the Netherlands and have the continent to myself.
Edit #3- Third levy of the same city state has just started on turn 163, with the half-price levying civic. Netherlands will die, its just a question of how much blood is involved.
