Make sure the Radiologist you ask doesn’t own or read imagines off the open MRI scanner you’ve been using, lol
Nah actually after seeing your post I did some looking on the internet and saw immediately you were correct. I'm just not sure it matters for me. They are doing comparison scans to make sure nothing came back. I've had 2 years of clean scans , open and closed MRI and perhaps the 'not as precise' part will not matter. Being in the closed MRI causes me intense physical pain that takes days to go away. Like my hands/arms go numb.

I've been a number of MRIs and only one place that I know of has an open MRI and it wasn't a place I went to. I figure there is a huge upsell to them for people that won't fit into a normal one or claustrophobic.

It's also the only place I've seen that advertises they do MRIs and have an open MRI. I figure if you go to a regular one and a doctor says you won't fit the open MRI place can charge you or your insurance more.

I doubt they get to charge more, actually if they’re independently owned they probably charge a small fraction of what you’d get charged at a hospital based scanner. Hospital based outpatient care is probably the biggest healthcare scam of the 21st century*.

The main draw is claustrophobia/patient preference. Most doctors (especially pretend docs like NPs) don’t realize those things are pretty useless so $$ marketshare.

Well.. wide bore 3T MRI machine (not OpenMRI) and no problems at all getting it done. Of course , it could have been due to my new best friend Alprazolam.

And now I have a picture of the asshole of the week...
1756912978453.png

25mm x 26mm

Also. upon further review of yesterday's MRI and the previous imaging I see something which pisses me off. First pisses me off with myself for not noticing before, but FAR MORE pisses me off at the radiologist and urologists whose JOB is it to notice. But apparently back over on my right kidney, where I had the previous mass cryoablated, there is ALSO a SECONDARY 1cm mass which nobody has said jack shit about yet.

I swear if that ends up being a third mass that I have to do ANOTHER procedure for they're going to experience the full brunt of "bad customer service Haus".

update: well, I think my healthcare provider has basically just given up and officially declared me as having AFIB for no particular reason

Did the Keto diet fr just over two weeks, and it actually increased the amount of episodes I had. So sugar isnt the problem.
Edit: to clarify, I was having episodes nearly every other day while on Keto, and I’ve only had them twice since going off.

got my electrolyte levels checked, after supplementing for a week and here were the results, April results are from when I was in the ER with actively occurring AFIB:

I'm puzzled that Chloride and Magnesium levels stayed static, despite supplementing Magnesium Citrate and Potassium Chloride

April-August Comparisons.png

also more recently, ive had extreme light headedness during some episodes, a coworker thought that sounded like iron deficiency to him, so i also had Iron levels checked with my electrolyte panel in august, along with vitamin D, and got this result:

Iron August.png

it should be noted for iron levels, the day before i took this test, I ate three 1/4 beef patties in the late afternoon as part of my keto diet so im not sure why iron levels were low
Vitamin D August.png

what i find concerning is that all my lab results review came back as "Labs fine" for every stat, including low iron level. health team said iron saturation was more important than iron level stat, but thats only two points above low normal range.

going to start supplementing iron and vitamin D tomorrow and see if symptoms improve.

Weight got down to 222 on keto, and went back up to 224 after going off (i'm assuming fluid retention) going to do another three week keto run starting this monday

ill update if anything out of ordinary happens

Looks to me that you're slightly diluted rather than difficent. Drop a few kg fluid - and 20kg bodyweight, get below 90kg. It's easy to check via echo (ultrasound) for any EM/card. Diuretics / fluid restriction plan after that. When you're at dry weight it's easier to dabble in whether you'd be eligible for DC or RFA. In short, fluid overload strains the heart and makes it more prone to afib in parox afib. I can't tell if you're in perm afib bc of structural vulnerability or hemodynamics. Less drinking soda, less supplements, do wegovy. Keto takes far to long to work imho. My 0.10.

Not to mention that being actually in ketosis is damn hard. I feel also that keto is not a good diet. I like my low carb/fasting regimen.

I wouldn’t do it without actual medical advice in his case, but fasting, complet fasting, decrease the strain on your heart. After 24 hours of fasting my heart definitely slow down quite significantly. It’s rather easier to fast 3/4 days, do IF/’low carb afterward than keto, and my guess is that it’s also healthier overall, with very similar metabolic benefits.

having almost died from Iron deficiency I can tell you its way more serious than most give credit for and can account for tons of heart related symptoms

i'm about 3 months post surgery to repair arterial bleed in my digestive track and my last hemo appt i'm still fucking low, losing red blood cells/iron somehow. Doc thinks its potentially due to blood loss during surgery but honestly it feels like i should have rebounded already, Im on a damn near carnivore diet of red meat and iron supplements.
I have one more follow up next month and if my numbers are still trending down then i have to have them retest every other possibility (ie cancer/auto immune) since bleeding is now off the table.

This is going to sound crazy but... Have they checked your T level? (kinda assuming you're a guy here). I remember one thing when I was doing T pellets was that RBC count seems tied to T level in men, so they always monitored mine. Higher T often causes higher Red Blood cell production. Just a crazy theory.

No other way around. T level was my first thought based on symptoms (tiredness, lack of energy, easily exhausted, but also extreme muscle cramps with bare minimum activity)

But no, you physically require iron to produce rbc and you need free iron in your blood stream along with rbc to carry oxygen.

No iron due to long term bleeding = no rbc = no oxygen or Fluid delivery to your organs or muscles. Rbc are also the cells that transport and distribute water.

When you achieve verge of death level and suffer multiple strokes and heart attack cus your blood is a fucking molasses they check everything.

I don't recall exactly but I wanna say t was around 430, which isn't amazing 18 year old fuck or fight everything that moves level, but since im 45 it was pretty mid and non-concerning, medically.

So...

Tomorrow I go in for an ablation procedure on the left kidney to nuke the cancerous tumor there. I wasn't worried about the first ablation (right side) but for some reason I'm wound up and not feeling great about this one.

Plus the procedure isn't until after lunch, so I will basically have to go all day tomorrow without food until around dinner time. So I did something I don't normally do and prepared myself a large snack to eat tonight before I head to bed. But now my worst case scenario head is thinking.... What if things go REALLY wrong tomorrow?

St Peter - So... Welcome! What was the last thing you did?
Haus : Told my wife I loved her
St Peter : So you're good then?
Haus : Yeah... well....
St Peter : what?
Haus : My last meal was chips and microwaved hot dogs....
St Peter : ....

Best of luck for tomorrow bro. Let us know how it goes and if the operation is successful who then becomes Mrs. Haus.

As long as you didn't put ketchup on the hot dogs you will be allowed in.

Just got home from the hospital and the procedure. Looks like the score is now (for those keeping track at home)

Haus' Nephrotic Ice Tombs : 2
Cancer : 0

Everything went swimmnigly, only difference from last time is that the first time I peed after the procedure this time I proceeded to eject what looked like sliced and diced tumor with a side of blood clots in a zesty blood/urine sauce. I was mildly freaked out, and the Doctor took a look and said "Meh, that happens sometime, come back in if it's not completely back to normal pee by Sunday"

And since I got home, peed once, and it's back to the golden shower the world expects from my bladder.

Plot twist, it was the microwave hot dogs and ketchup
