In the books, it’s outright stated that dinos that escaped the island were eating foods rich in lysine, like corn and beans, and thus were surviving.
A thousand velociraptors would be massacred as well.
we also hunted wolves to extinction in the 1800s. you really think any dinos would be a problem with todays arms, and helocopters, planes, etc?
the US has wolves, lions, bears, and boar. you think the hunters here don't know a thing or two about game fighting back? Hell, even shit like moose, bison, elk, etc are actually super dangerous 1v1.

places dinos would be a problem. first, not the USA. places without a shit ton of guns. and places with large amounts of wilderness. amazon, etc. places that don't have winters, which large reptiles would get recked in.

Dinos are only an issue in movies, because they obey movie slasher rules. teleport around, no one has any peripheral vision, and guns only work within 20ft.
Also in the books, what makes the dinos so dangerous is Hammond’s insistence that there be no military weapons on the island with the exception of Muldoon’s custom tranq rocket launcher

Yeah I remember that but I assume that would only apply to herbivores. Raptors were one of the breeding species but near as I can tell none actually got off the island.

Then again the lysine contingency means that Isla Sorna never would have worked either, so I guess even Crichton abandoned it.

Sorna also had species capable of breeding that were supposed to be incapable of breeding on Nublar.
The T Rexes on Nublar didn’t have the frog DNA and were thus incapable of spontaneously changing sex, but Sorna has a breeding pair of Rexes

shit, for that matter, within the first novel itself, Crichton contradicts himself when Grant and the kids see a pair of Dilophosaurus performing a mating ritual with the pair having obvious sexual dimorphism . Again, Dilos didn’t have the frog DNA and shouldn’t have been breeding

That was a different kind of Mega-fauna.

It would honestly depend on the numbers. One T-Rex would be dealt with pretty easily. There would be a lot more involved in that chase just due to the potential human carnage that could take place. That scene took place in the 80's and so coordination and the lack of internet makes the public perception a lot different and more localized. I presume they are trying to keep the event as secret as possible.

If there were a thousand Velociraptors loose, the red necks would get their asses handed to them. This game has teeth and hunts back. To put this in a different perspective, imagine this situation only with animals that would hunt you.

A fun history lesson.

Emu War - Wikipedia
bro humans kill elephants, tiger and lions... our super power is tools , sheer numbers, and sweat glands. 1v1 we are really weak... but that is the thing.. it is never 1v1. We never did solitary hunting.

Humans hunted most mega-fauna to the point of exctinction using spears. The idea that any large animal from these movies would even exist after a few months is retarded, much less they'd be actually terrorizing humans. You'd have rednecks and big game hunters chasing them down for fun in a few weeks. Jurassic Park was not in an island to protect humans from the Dinosaurs...it was there to protect the dinosaurs from us.

Trailer looks like dogshit =-/
Alaska natives used to hunt whales from kayaks in the dead of winter. The only danger to humanity is humanity itself.

They 'hand wave' it away in the second and third films. There were many lysine rich plants on the island. Herbivores instinctively sought them out, then the predators ate the herbivores.

It was also hinted at in one of the epilogues that some of the dinosaurs that had made it to the mainland via the ships were spotted as 'mysterious creatures' around lysine rich crops.

Anyone who thinks that once invasively inserted small to medium (up to say Raptor sized) dinos would be "easy" to eradicate hasn't seen the feral hog population in the US....

eh only bow hunters care about feral pigs. supposedly the meat tastes different than regular pig so its not so awesome. you can buy the good pig at the supermarket. no normy cares. you throw some raptors into the wild with an open season on them. they will all be dead within 24 hours. trophy hunters and exotic meat people will be paying premiums to get their hands on them. then add in some zoos wanting one for their parks.

well, its a question of danger and bleeding hearts.

if they did attack people, they would be exterminated. feral hogs are a nuisance. they arent hunting people. Then, the question of environmentalists crying over them being killed off. since dinos would be a invasive species, they probably wouldn't get any pushback for total elimination.

Reality is that the meat is sub-standard by many standards. (Although if you're talking slow cooking at moderate temp (i.e. BBQ) it does OK) The problem is they eat ANYTHING, destroy farm crops, kill livestock, breed like Hispanic Catholics and can thrive in a wide range of climates/situations. They're an invasive nuisance species. And in much of Texas there is a perpetual "no limit" season on hogs and they are STILL a problem. Some farmers and ranchers actually PAY people to come hunt and remove them.

The one advantage is that being cold blooded raptors wouldn't do well in North Texas winters. But very feasible they could absolutely wreck Mexico and the southern border regions.. Maybe as far north as Houston/Austin at most.

To be fair, Crichton Raptors are so absurdly intelligent that they might figure out to avoid antagonizing humans long enough to get a decent sized population established in some ass end of central america.

"Environmentalists" that complain about killing feral/wild hogs would still complain about killing fictional dino murder machines.

On Pigs in the US:
There are no Pigs native to the Americas (Sus (genus)), so Feral Hogs are an invasive species. They attack young livestock and occasionally, pets and humans. Ecologically, they aren't as bad for native species as, say, pythons in the Everglades, or cats (for every bird population, the world over) but they can out eat most anything native to the US. Additionally, they tear up vegetation, while rooting, that native herbivores use. This can lead to malnutrition and, at worst, the starvation of various species that eat those grasses.
They cause an estimated $400 million in damage to fields every year. If given the opportunity, they will eat native animals as well. They have been found to eat anything they can get their mouth on, such as calves, kids (goats), lambs, deer, local birds, and, on the coast, sea turtle eggs.
As for humans, the last unprovoked fatal attack was in 2019. In East Texas (near Houston), before dawn, a woman was attacked and killed as she was walking from her car to the residence where she worked, as a caretaker. The previous fatal attack in the US was in 1996 (also not hunting related). Most reported attacks, have been hunters, and vast majority of them are non-fatal.
In a study on world wide feral/wild pig attacks, from 2013, the author found 412 attacks in the past ~150 years, but 70% (288 attacks) were from 2000 to 2013. The US accounted for 24% of the total attacks; of that number, 24% were in Texas, 13% were in Florida, and 10% were in South Carolina. The author states that he believes there are many mild attacks that go unreported.

What are the chances that Laura Dern becomes the "hero" much like she was in Star Wars VIII?

The movie may even feature a scene where she dykes out with a female dinosaur to seed the validation of having sex with animals.

Agenda-ing in Hollywood never stops.

If it doesn’t have sapience than its not going to be dangerous outside of singular encounters. A bear in the woods is dangerous to a hiker. Its not dangerous to hunters. 100 bears aren’t dangerous to 1 hunter, bears are smart enough to run when they hear lots of gun shots.

a megaladon isn’t any more dangerus than an opportunistic great white, to a surfer, perhaps less so depending on their travel paths

Yeah, I remember hunting as a kid in Texas, I dont think we paid for shit when we went to ranches to hunt Wild pigs and were also encouraged heavily to kill as many jackrabbits as possible. They do so much property damage, if people want to come hunt them, Ranchers do what they can to encourage it.

And wild pig tastes great, its just very easy to make taste not-great cause it has very, very, very little fat on it, so it dries out faster than a shitty thanksgiving turkey.

What really rustles my jimmies about this upcoming movie, is how it completes the full shitting on Crichtons novel

In the first JW, with the raptors being trained, it undoes the whole point of the original movies: you can’t expect to control nature

With this new movie, the idea of the dinos getting out into the wild and being a threat contradicts what Malcolm says in the original novel about how egotistical it was for Hammond to assume his creations could destroy the world. Granted, he specifically goes on to say that it’s humanity that’s at risk of destroying itself, but the idea of roughly a hundred dinos being a threat to humanity is asinine.

If you go back and read the original Lost World novel, it reads like a neo feminist masturbation fantasy.

Sarah Harding is repeatedly described as being beautiful, independent, brave, strong/powerful and intelligent.

meanwhile, most of the men are evil, stupid, worthless, myopic or burdensome

This movie should be like Tremors, but with dinos instead of the underground sand worms, damn now i want Kevin Bacon and the actor who played Burt to be in this.

This movie could play out like Dino Crisis, a group of military special forces are sent in to hunt down the dinos and get picked off one by one.
