I believe MMO's will only be fun like we remember it is if people are willing to discover and prioritize the experience over consumption. I don't think that's the world we live in now. It's all about rushing to the endgame which has been the progression of the MMO state. Its hard to want to experience something reimaged, rehashed, and reskinned over and over again when the challenge is at the end and so is the player development. However, if people were willing to enjoy the ride and experience the game as it unravels at a pace, they would probably have more fun but we make poop sock groups, grind out 50 levels in a few hours, and start raiding. I don't know you recreate it because we've done it... a lot... but maybe a new world will bring that back somewhat. It reminds me the first couple of play throughs on Valheim. We really took our time and soaked it in but now when a new biome is released, we rush through the first so many bosses as quickly as possible to get to the latest biome. I'm looking forward to taking my time with MnM but I'm not sure the MMO community is really at that place anymore. Unfortunately experiencing everything "for the first time" is gone... everything that is our minds that we experienced in text or on table tops has been put into 100 different virtual worlds with the same entry level quests, with the same progression, with the same D&D/Tolkien inspired worlds. However, I think the enjoyment is in the hands of the community regardless and I hope this is a game people will building community and enjoy.
