You have to offer enough money .. they spent I think 200-500m on the IP..

Depends on the terms. The engine has more value than the IP. Selling the game and licensing the engine could be an option.

I'm pretty sure if they wanted to sell it off, they would want to get rid of the whole thing at once, and not make package deals out of it.

They want the "big" payday, not licensing agreements.

I have said before and I will say it again, I enjoyed the living fuck out of my time in New World. I got my money's worth out of the game. When I got to max level, I was done with the game, but I don't regret any second of the time I spent playing through the game.

I was actually looking at making another run through the game on my PS5 when I went and found out that they had literally announced the impending doom of the game like the same week I had decided to check to see if it was available for the PS5. I went to the website, seen it was on PS5, saw the recently released content, was super hyped to check it out, and then found an announcement on the web saying it was all coming to an end.

Would I play it again if another company picked it up? Yes. I definitely would. I don't see New World as a MMORPG that I play non-stop like I do other MMOs. I see it as a game you purchase, play through, and then put it on the shelf until the next expansion is put up you to purchase. I would continue playing New World for many years to come purchasing each expansions and playing through it for a month or two if it was available. And... I would prefer to do it on my PS5. It's just that kind of game.

Tax write offs, they will get a lot more then 25m from sitting on the IP.

Unfortunately, I don't think it will happen. Or at least not until someone wins the AI race (or it completely collapses). Amazon and the rest of the tech lords are all in on AI. Everything else is just a distraction.

Can they really do a tax write off, though? All the major investment was years ago.
