How many people who are bitching about him not getting picked up would actually want Kaepernick as the QB for their favorite team?

As a starter? I'd imagine some Jets fans for sure. If we're talking this year I'd bet he'd be a better option than what Browns/Bears have (jury out on their young guys in the future of course). We'll see how Houston does with Watson...cause if it's Savage starting, Kaep is superior to him as well. San Fran will play worse than him this year.

If we're talking backup, he'd have to be willing to accept backup role/money first for that to matter (and reports are murky on this). If he was willing, then you're talking most teams in the league that could use him.

I'm talking as a starter, and yeah I agree on pretty much what you said in that regard -- the shitshow QB carousel teams that have been at the bottom of the league the last few seasons.

As a starter you run into a few things. Outside of the top 10 guys, depending on the year, guys 11-25 can be sorta interchangeable at times...except in experience in their system, skillset fitting system, etc. So really any team with one of those guys would be weighing a marginal upgrade at best with Kaepernick (at best) to get a guy who would have less experience with teammates and the offensive system in most situations. That leaves you with a handful of bottom teams, and he already left San Fran (as did Gabbert)...and teams that just drafted a young guy to be "the guy" might not want a potential other starter around for competition.

But like you said, there's a couple of teams at the bottom who at least if we're talking pure football...are just being laughably dumb not having him around to compete with the sad QB's they'll be sending out there to play.

Here is the thing though hes going to want starting QB money. Im not going to pay Kaeperbro 20million to do 1 check down and miss passes even if he is better than half a dozen QBs.

I remember hearing both that he wanted starter money and that he was willing to accept backup money. $20M is a bit much, that's like top 15 money and he's not getting that even without the protest stuff. $15M or less sounds reasonable. I'll put it like this, no way I'd take him over Cousins, but if Cousins walks in the offseason, and we don't find a way to draft someone worth a shit? Better believe I'd prefer Kaep over Colt McCoy.

Glennon got 19 million and starting QBs are getting 20+ now. Cousins is going to get 22-25 per year next year.

Cousins will actually likely get more than that if he has another season like the last 2. But a season like that would mean once again being a top 10 guy stat wise...which Kaepernick isn't that. Also Glennon's deal is for 3 years and $45 million, and the way it works out it's more like a 1 year deal for $16 million. So Glennon's deal would be something Kaepernick might look at, although I doubt he'd get more than a 1 or 2 year deal.

This is happening at 5PM tonight, hopefully will produce some lulz:

boycott? Hypocrisy overwhelming. Vast majority of those protesters will have their eyeballs glued to the tv, jizzing their pants and shit-talking refs the moment season starts in 2 weeks.

Didn't watch it, but my gut is that most of these people probably don't even watch the NFL and prefer 'real football', the international stuff.

$15 mill is too much. Cutler just got a 1 year $10 mill contract and he played in Gase's system for a year. Here is a guy who lost tons of weight when he was the projected starter and no one will say how well he's been keeping up with conditioning and training. He did an acceptable job in a system where Foles looked like a god for one year. These owners want to win. They just haven't seen a guy willing to do what's necessary to put the team first, no matter what bullshit he's spewing from week to week. It's a complete con job by a racist minority trying to sell something in a league that is 70% black. Utter bullshit narrative by the MSM and some racist assholes.

I think it's less about race (although it does play a part in why so many people cry so much about the protest) and just whiny fans making waves that owners don't want to deal with. Cutler's deal shouldn't be used as a comparison to Kaepernick's, as Cutler was a guy done with football, whereas Kaepernick could still have a future playing. Cutler's deal is a one off thing, and it could be worth up to $13M if he hits incentives. Kaepernick is comparable to a Glennon...a potential starter with a few years to play still.

But agreed a large part of it is all resting on what you're talking about, is he still in shape, does he still want to play (have been rumors otherwise), what sort of deal/situation is he willing to accept.

Turning vegan hipster protester loosing weight doesn't seem like a pro football player to me.

And here I thought the vegan or similar diet plans were all the rage among guys to extend their careers. Also last I heard, he was going to stand for the anthem this year.

As for the hipster part...well you gotta take some bad with the good I guess.

How many vegans are in the league? Only one i knew about was aryan foster, and he kinda got sickly after a coupla years. But I think I heard that was after he added bacon to his vegan diet. Bacanotarian?

Brady isn't a vegan, but his diet is extremely strict from what I recall hearing lately. Trent Williams on the Skins just went full vegan for a month, and was discussing it with rest of our O line. I think he's going to continue some form of hybrid diet trying to stick to certain parts of a vegan one (not sure which specific stuff he's avoiding, just read the general gist of it). Brady is going to be putting out a book/diet plan soon that I'm sure many around the league will look at, since it's hard to argue with his success.1

I'm not really saying a vegan diet can be all that bad, but in Kaepernicks case he lost a lot of muscle weight from what I recall and his commitment to playing football seems flimsy at best.

I'm gunna be honest with you, this is the most exciting football news I've read this year. The entire offensive line of our most hated rival might go vegan. Good luck to Trent!

well, I think only Trent really went full vegan. Like I said, he only did it for a month too, he's back to eating some other stuff now. Just something they were experimenting with.

He just hasn't looked good in quite a while. Last year was a Chip Kelly aberration. This is a guy that still needs to use his wheels instead of his arm many times. There's just no place for him today. He reminds me of Vick and Vick still got a job when people thought he had value.

That's my main problem with this narrative. It's non-football people trying to force a football decision on a team when they aren't qualified to make that decision. It's the worst form of SJW socialist bullshit going on today. If Kaep was asking the right price, was in the right shape, did the right things, etc, he'd be under contract today. No one knows why he isn't and I put that responsibility on the player who wants a job, not the employer. Time for merit to get back in our job based discussions.

Kaepernick is pretty much a known quantity at this point. He's not all of a sudden going to warp into Tom Brady. Teams are looking for Tom Brady, not mediocre QB's that have issues attached to them. Either a team has too much invested in a pick like Goff or they're blatantly tanking for a QB in the draft. Either way, if Kaep was any good he'd still be a 49'er. Also
