People don't give Tannehill enough credit. $96m is probably a bargain for franchise QBs these days and he sure as shit can't be worse than Catler.

Tannehill's a solid qb who's improved every year. He's more talented than Kaep or Cutler who both signed much bigger contracts

He's already a top 10 QB, If not this year or the next can pretty much guarantee he will be top 5.

Yeah, that deal is going to look better and better as the cap inflates and some of these other QB's start coming off their rookie deals.

Didn't he implode at the end of the year?
Implode? Not really. The team as a whole played like shit at the end of the year but it was hardly Tannehill's fault, our defense completely shit the bed.

Jets L: 23/39 259 yd 1 TD
Minnesota W: 35/477 396 yd 4 TD 1 INT
NE L: 29/47 346 yd 1TD 2 INT
Ravens L: 23/33 227 yd 1 TD
Jets W: 25/35 235 yd 1INT

Also the season that Ryan put up last year which put him around 10th best QB in the league was behind literally the worst offense line in the league (based off PFF ratings).

I don't know about a top ten QB, but they most assuredly got a good deal for him, especially considering the dearth of descent prospects in the next few years. What he is good is at being consistent and healthy, which the Fins are going to need until they get some core issues cleaned up. Consider how hilariously overpaid Flacco and (eventually) Wilson are, and the deal seems even better. Late season slides of an entire team are generally a sign of the HC being a bad motivator, which if we take Sutehk at his word, seems to be the case with Philbin. He was a decent OC with McFatty's hand up his ass in GB, but that's not really saying much when you have Rogers to lean on. But with a long term deal on a dependable guy in place, the team definitely has some good leverage to get someone better in, if Philbin puts up another stinker season. I am nearly entirely certain that no coach worth a shit wants either the Jags or Chicago jobs, because they would either be inheriting a giant cap denting overpaid piece of shit QB or have no hope at the position, respectively. The Tannehil signing might be one of the better front office moves Miami has done in a long while.

^ What Phazael said.

The last few drafts have taught me that QB talent isn't going to start suddenly get better. I mean, fucking Mariota and Winston were the top 2 picks in the entire draft. That's pathetic. Blake Bortles and Manziel were the top two taken last year.

If you find a serviceable QB, you lock that shit down.

Top 10. Yes. Top 5? No.

That is a very good deal for the Phins. Now let's hope the Phins don't get stupid and give him a new OC every year after Philbin gets canned.

He was rated 11th last year barely behind Tom Brady (ahead of him in completion %) and since Tom's season can be vacated for cheating he was 10th.

Tanny contract was a steal considering how prices go up every year. Miami has done very good job since Ireland left. We'll see if it translates but I think it will.

Speaking of the Dolphins, Peterson is still the pipe dream, but I'd be perfectly ok if Jones dealt for Lamar Miller. Would love to see him run behind the world's greatest offensive line.

Tannehill shows improvement each year. Wouldn't say Top 10 yet, but certainly a good deal.
