Do you guys make your own meals for keto? If so, how long does it typically take to make? Or are you guys using meal delivery services?

i do, but i'm really lazy about it. usually i just fry up venison (free from my dad who hunts), slop in a bunch of cheese, sour cream, and salt, and call it good. or bacon / eggs / cheese. microwave Atkins and Real Good stuff, Tyson grilled chicken nuggets microwaved and dipped in ranch, etc.

Coffee Canisters – Rapid Fire Coffee

mainstays personal blender.jpeg

in a 15-ounce personal blender, add two scoops of the KetoScience Chocolate stuff (scoop included), 2 tablespoons of the RapidFire Instant Coffee (scoop not included), a quick squeeze of the Sugar Free Hershey's Syrup (i don't even add the full 2 tablespoons that makes one serving), and then fill up to the line with unsweetened almond milk. blend, shake a bit, then blend some more, and enjoy.

i go a few hours in the morning without eating, then once i get to the point where i'm too hungry to focus, i make one of these and get by a few more hours. works out to like 8g of carbs, so maybe a bit much, but they're really good so :)

What personal blender do you use? I've been looking for a cheap one to make bulletproof coffee. I have an immersion blender, but I don't like the idea of cleaning it all the time.

I mix this with some ice water and a little cold coffee. It's like a coffee milkshake, my taste buds swear it's sweet.

Lost 35 lbs doing partly keto and following this workout plan. Weight loss occurred over 2 months of following this.

https://cdn.muscleandstrength.com/sites/default/files/workouts/6daycutting_0.pdf

I modify this workout by running every MWF/S before I lift. As I like running a lot. I am up to what I want to be running which is 5k then lift. T/Th I do 1 hour on either my road bicycle or the indoor bicycle depending on what I feel like doing. Followed by some crunches/ab stuff for 20 minutes like it says. On Saturdays I do 1.5 or 2 hours on the road bike or run a 10k run.

I've no desire to be bigger. I've always been quite strong. I just like being leaner.

For food I do:
  1. Breakfast Options (I eat at between 430 and 530AM):
    1. Strawberry Protein Shake with - 1/2 small Avocado, 1.2 Cup flax milk (make at home), MP Combat Protein Powder (strawberry 2 carb per scoop 170 cal), small handful of frozen strawberry, about half the serving on the Nut Facts. 35 cal/4 net carb.
    2. 3 or 4 eggs cooked any way I want with some cheddar and sauteed vegetable of some kind.
    3. I will occasionally use lowcarb flour to make Waffles on my weekend cheating day.
  2. 10AM Snack: One or the other here.
    1. 2 boiled eggs with horseradish or sriracha mayo
    2. Clif Nut Butter Bar - Not Keto at all but whatever.
  3. 1PM Lunch:
    1. Stir Fried Cabbage and Egg or Chicken with Jalapenos, Kimchi, peppercorn, green onion. Cooked in small amount of sesame oil.
      1. variations on this.
    2. Something else... Depends on what I feel like making. But Number 1 is my go to as it is always super delicious.
  4. 6PM Dinner
    1. Small snack of a few slices of hard cheese and kosher pickles. I don't really eat dinner
    2. 1 spoonful of Psyillium Husk Fiber in water.
  5. Alcohol:
    1. When I do drink or go to happy hour, which seems to be like once a week or two to meet with peers and buddies I switched to Michelob Ultra and Whiskey only. Once a month I'll have some craft beers I like. But only one or two.

I did about 10 years on an Atkins diet, which has as rule 1, Always Stay In Ketosis.

Before I started the diet, my doctor at the time told me don't do it, you cholestrerol will go through the roof. We did all my bloodwork etc.

A year later I went back to the doctor for my yearly. I had roxxored the keto plan. I was eating wings at will, tons of coldcuts dipped in hot mustard, scrambled eggs (which are my favorite food in the world, w/ some cheese on top), you guys know the drill. It is not a complicated diet!

Doctor saw my bloodwork, I had lost nearly 40 pounds, down to 190. Cholestrorol was nearly 50 points lower in the bad cholesterol. Me and my doctor had a good laugh that day.

BUT: my brother, seeing how it worked for me, did same diet. He blew up, his bloodpressure and cholesterol soared, he did not lose much weight.

conclusion: I really think diff people have diff metabolisms and chemistry etc.

Good luck all!

That is not accurate. Stay in Ketosis for the first two phases and then move on to phases 3 and 4 when you've dropped the weight you needed to and are now looking to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

And your brother was not doing the diet correctly if that was the case for him (neither were you based on your description but I'm guessing you're just leaving out the leafy greens and veggies you were eating).

Ya, I ate lots of greens. Fortunately, sautteed greens with olive oil and some garlic is a huge favorite of mine. Pair that with a nice cut of protein, oh yeah ;)

You are right though. I oversimplied the diet. I never got down to the weight I was working toward, so kinda forgot.

As to my brother, I wonder if you are correct there too. I bet he was trying to cheat, and one thing I think I am right about, you can't cheat this approach.

It worked great for me for the decade I was on it. I felt great and going out to eat wasn't nearly the challenge it is with some diets.

edit: a month or so ago a friend took me to a good restaurant here in C-Land. I had the rib-eye and I special order a side of sauteed greens mentioned above. It was one of those "once ever 5 years" rib-eyes. They got it just right, which imo, is slightly close to medium. The fat was unreal.

Some keto porn there for ya lol.

I think a lot of people here are confusing a low carb/calorie deficient diet with keto. Fat content in several of these diets posted above is way too low to fuel you in ketosis.

What he said. Its supposed to be in the neighborhood of 70% calories from fat, 25% from protein, and 5% carbs.

I mix it with a lot of exercise and alternate days of IF. IF and keto pair very well together, if you plateau'd on keto mix in IF and you will kickstart fat loss and lean muscle gain. Lots of interesting research on IF coming out every month it seems, Joe Rogan has had some great interviews on the subject I would suggest listening to.

As far as diet goes, I get a lot of sockeye salmon from Costco and eat it often, added with olive oil on the grill, asparagus with butter, lots of avocado etc. I rarely even do the bulletproof coffee at this point, and thats a thing, people start drinking too much of that shit instead of getting it from food nutrients and wonder why their numbers and bloodwork look bad. If you are interested in some variations to add variety, Maria Emmerich has some great keto recipe books on Amazon. Every now and then if I get a sweet pang I make some of the cheesecake recipes or snickerdoodle things to satisfy that.

I found what is basically the holy grail for sandwiches/pizzas/rolls for low-cab/keto diets:

Damascus Bakeries Roll-Ups – Damascus Bakery

These things are freaking awesome. Each piece is 5 net carbs and they are about an 8x8 square. Just made this today (sorry the picture is blurry, Pixel XL cam is shit in low light):

16 pack was $7.50 at Costco.

Cheese. Shitty picture. I put mayo, shredded chicken, and shredded cheese on it.
if you have a low light issue, does that mean you cook in the dark too? when i installed can lights in my kitchen, it really upgraded the experience.
