Damn. What kind of nurse are you? NP?

Looks like I wasn't all that far off calling you a doctor. That's how much our pediatrician makes.

I don't actually work at IHOP, although some days that would be a nice change of pace.

Where do you work? - Technically have no "job"

What do you do? (Title/keywords) - Take care of 2 kids 24 hours/ day, boss husband around, clean constantly, cook on occasion but not so well. Schedule doctors appointments. Hang out with other stay at home moms. Any and all finances.

What field/industry? - Anti feminism

Wages? - I make 0 dollars. Though I did work my ass off when we had to file an insurance claim due to an oven with a faulty self cleaner. That was one of the most complicated things I've ever completed and I was hella pregnant at the time. Ended up with 20k from it, so... Could have been worse.

Bonuses/SEP? - Nope.

Benefits? - In some ways I'm always working, in others I never have to work. Does that count as a benefit?

How long have you been there? - 2.5 years

Nurse practitioners make crap money in the Bay area. I'm just a bedside nurse in a hospital. Unionized and in the Bay area, so base pay is always over 100k.

Friends wife is a nurse practioner.. She works at a university and basically writes prescriptions for birth control and other minor stuff. She also gets the summer off since they don't have students living on campus for the summers. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Where do you work? Up until the begining of this year I co-owned a subsidiarity for a German Sex Toy manufacturer.

What do you do? (Title/keywords) President

What field/industry? Adult/Sextoy/Medical

Wages? 100k + equity

Bonuses/SEP? basic run of the mill stuff, health insurance, ect.

Benefits? Get to travel around the world for various trade shows. Have gotten to fuck and disappoint most of the pornstars we all love to jerk off to.

How long have you been there? Been working on this for the last 6+ years, up until January of this year. Since then I have been in an ongoing legal case over licensing deals and damages. Which is probably one of the shittiest things I've had to deal with in my life. Prior to that I loved the business, be careful who you partner with.

Where do you work?
A medical diagnostics and service provider.

What do you do? (Title/keywords)
Software Engineer

What field/industry?

Healthcare

Wages?

~75K. Pretty decent considering I'm living in "bumfuk Egypt" as they say.

Bonuses/SEP?

no bonuses, 3% matching 401K.

Benefits?

Awful, awful healthcare options. They do throw tons of vacation time at us, though.

How long have you been there?

3 years in current position. Worked in tech support for a year before moving into more technical positions culminating in the transfer to engineering. I'm pretty proud of the fact that, through ambition and gumption, moved into a department previously only occupied by advanced degree holders.

This is why nurses travel from Louisiana to work out there temporarily.

Where do you work? Two jobs. Delivery driver for a mid range sandwich chain, and game artist/freelance illustrator.

What do you do? (Title/keywords)
Drive around, do battle with crackheads and sidewalk bums. The art stuff's a bit more sporadic, but I've done work for gaming publications, card game companies, industry magazines, and a few year-long stints as staff artist for some web-based games. Lots and lots of unpaid education/tutorial/moderating work for certain industry websites.

Wages?
15-30/hr for driving, depending on the shift. The illustration stuff factors out to about 20/hr.

Bonuses/SEP/Benefits?
Huehue. No.

How long have you been there?
1 year for the driving, got my first professional art gig a few months out of college, so about 8 years now on the freelancing.

So I'm looking for well-rounded advice from my RR brethren.

Some of you know I have a Master's in History pursuing a PhD. However, my studies and life outside of school and work have led me down a different path from what I originally envisioned for myself, and I've found that I really would like to venture into medicine, mainly sports medicine. I'm 26, and everyone around me is telling me I'm not too old to pursue a medical degree if it's what I really want to do.

I understand some people find what they want to do in life when they're 10, 18, 25, etc. The main thing is that debt bill scares the living shit out of me. At the same time, this is a career that I not only am very much intrigued in, it's something I'm willing to put the time in and I understand what I'm getting myself into if I decide to go to medical school. I'd be 31 most likely by the time I got out with 2 years of residency meaning I wouldn't be making real money until I was about 33 years of age. The only thing holding me back is the debt, it has nothing to do with being uncommitted to studying or lacking a passion for the subject.

Am I insane for considering this?

TL;DR - 26 year old contemplating going to medical school to study sports medicine. Am I a fucking lunatic?

Nope. Know a few people who have gotten their MDs when they were older than 26. One had 2 young kids. Let's be honest, if you don't go to some sketchy Caribbean med school and go into a decent medical field, that debt with be nothing in the long run. I'd be more afraid of getting a PhD in history and forever being poor.

No children, really nothing holding me back. I'm hoping to get into an American school for the reasons listed above, but my best friend went to St. George's and placed in Brooklyn so there's that.
Are you funding the PhD yourself?
Still waiting on if I was awarded funding. I refuse to fund it myself.
