I'm going to disagree with you because I wouln't call combat gameplay relying on hard patterned rotations with limited skills solid foundations. In fact the foundations are moving quite fast : from 8 available skills in the LAS bar during early stage (LAS is the skillbar where you have to choose which skills you want to use in fights) to 9 then 10 during CBT3. And they also announced they're gonna rework itemization and milestone system. Not so much solid, in my opinion. Most of the complaints from my point of view are from the filler / finisher boogaloo being boring and spammy, LAS system uninspiring, GuildWars2esque and too restricting. I feel the game has some kind of strong potential right now but I will definitely not call it "with solid foundations". They still have a lot of work to make Wildstar fun to play, because at the moment I think combat gameplay experience during leveling is as fun as playing Jokari without the elastic cord. People need to know how the game is, not how the game is expected to be.
I won't totally disagree, although I've enjoyed the combat as it is...I have no issue with limited action set, actually...I highly favor it to having 40 abilities on 5 hotbars..but that it's an entirely different discussion. My point about having a solid foundation is that the combat basics are working, and working very well. The responsiveness of combat that has hurt so many games is there already. Games have released with combat that wasn't anywhere near as responsive as Wildstar is right now.

Itemization, and milestone system while affecting combat and character customization...are not exactly related to actual combat mechanics.

I love being neg repped for being a 'fanboy'. That being said:

-Combat doesn't flow right, and damage is not where it needs to be for most classes.
-Classes are rather archetypical MMO stuff. The Engineer might be fairly unique but from data hax it looks just like a class with different stances most likely to be dps/tank.
-Quests are very much like WoW except with a lot less running back and forth. I'm not sure how people want to level, but if the entire game is built hinging on getting to end game why would they want people to be lost in sub max-level gameplay?
-The limited action set is a good idea. It is different from GW2 in that you pick every single skill and are not restricted to which skills you can have on. In GW2 you got weapons you could flip between, and then what, 4 skills? The PVP ability of some of the potential builds could be great. Imagine having 10 abilities (really 9 and one is tied to your profession or whatever it's called) and 6 of those being CC. There's the utility character everyone wants in their MMO's. Or, same guy, and 7 dps skills 2 CC. Classic DPS PVP character.
-People will complain about cartoony graphics, that's fine. I personally hate the "OMG ITZ LEIK FINAL FANTASY CUTSCENES BUT ALL THE TIME" graphics. Wrecks cheaper machines and usually took too much time from game designers to create IMO.
-Crafting needs seriously tweaking. It's not nearly where it should be.
-Milestones are no longer. They're changing the implementation of character customization, I'm sure you can guess how.

I realize some people are going to play 3 hours a night for a month straight and barely hit max level, but for most of us on this forums who talk like we're king shits of MMO critiqueing, the only thing that matters is end-game. I remember TBC came out and I raced my guild leader to hit max level. Cool zones? Didn't care. Real game was in dungeons and raids for me. I mean how many people during Cata leveled characters looking forward to that long ass Indiana Jones rip off quest line? It was novel once, but after that who the fuck cares.

I've been beta testing this for awhile now, what exactly are we allowed to say on these boards about it?
Only what is publicly known. What that is, who knows. Many of us are in beta and basically just post generalized feelings about the games and not specifics. Though I just posted a shit ton of specifics I think they were all already known....for the most part.

I like leveling so long as theirs a dungeon to do always. Outside of that who cares? If you're a raider and say that games level to quick you're a fuckin retard. I have never played an MMO to enjoy leveling or to see the sights. I play to hit max level and raid and thats that. I am not saying that they dont need to actually put effort into it, not saying that at all. I like to level with friends and instance in fun instances or dungeons (Doesnt matter which go fuck yourself instance haters).

I enjoy leveling in WoW compared to other games, atleast now i do. The questing is mildly interesting and i can queue for shit on the fly and the pacing just seems right. I dont want to spend all day on 1-2 levels when i have no interest in that content. However if during those long levels they manage to make it fun to the point i wont feel like "fuck this is taking forever" then im cool with that too.

So, are the dungeons linear as fuck? I'm just curious. Initally, WoW's dungeons weren't quite as linear as they are now. Now they're just retarded linear and are so boring it makes me want to cry when I do one more than three or four times.

Any public dungeons yet, btw? Do people even talk in the game? Because if there's no community, it's already dead to me.

I wish they'd take the dungeons from Dragons Dogma(x360/PS3) and put them in an mmo - would be golden.

Its just another wow Sithro, no open dungeons and no communications.

Who knows about communication, but it'll be your typical MMO stuff. It really depends on the dungeon dynamic. If it's just an AOE zerg rush, probably not. I haven't really seen any of the dungeons so I have no idea.

There are public dungeons/events and stuff. I think each zone has an open world raid boss from level 1 to max.

The dungeons are fairly linear, and like all MMO except EQ1 there is little to no communication. EQ1 had downtime that's why people talked we had nothing else to do...every single MMO since has had zero communication except to explain boss fights. It's no different here.

who's to say that even in a game with downtime, people wouldn't just alt tab or do something on another electronic device?

Shit, that's how I play Project 1999. Start auto attacking a mob, alt-tab and read forums until mob is dead.

I think anyone who wants a game with dreadfully slow combat, long camps, and long respawns is living in the past.

See, now why do people have to say ridiculous stuff like this?

The 'newness' of a system doesn't make it superior, or make older less complex systems less enjoyable.

I enjoy both Deadmau5 and James Taylor. Both have their time and place.

You like James Taylor for the same reason that you liked him when you discovered his music, but people advocating for "dreadfully slow combat, long camps, and long respawns" like it for a reason that's not really possible today, mostly due to what I pointed out - a lot of people would just alt tab out or do something on another device.

Now that's not to say that "dreadfully slow combat, long camps, and long respawns" don't have their place either. They're not obsolete, but it's a special kind of person now that would talk to others in that game. At least with quicker-paced systems, people are actually in the game for a higher percentage of time that the game is running.

And that's bad, because?

People play the shit out of FarmVille, and that's a second screen game.

Well you definitely have no time to talk for this game during combat. But what's it matter, to quaid the game is just going to be a bunch of 9-12 year olds.

White knights still butthurt I have found ONE criticism in the promotional materials of their precious. Ah well. Guess meaningful discussion is too much to ask. Oh, I watched the 'meet the dominion' video to confirm if I wasnt being fucking delusional...like 40 seconds in the Drakkin scratches his butt.... HILAROUS AM I RITE???

For the record, I don't think it's gonna be 9-12 year olds. I do however expect an audience skewed towards the 15-22 range for Wildstar, which isn't the worst thing. Hell, I was 16 when I started playing EQ. Unfortunately, I require something a bit different these days. I don't think I can handle that kind of community anymore, and ya, I do believe many many youngsters will be drawn to this game over other MMOs entering the market.
