So

Is Boruto any good?
It's pretty much the same as Naruto. So it's beginners anime. I watched the first around 25-30 episodes, but got bored because nothing of any seriousness ever happened. Like... we need to track down a missing cat or deliver the mail because the post office had someone that quit. It's a bunch of filler style shit. I didn't read the manga, but any time there's no traditional plot, it always ends up being filler. It's watchable, but why waste your time when there is so much better out there to take in?

It's like 95% filler. iirc the manga is monthly, so they really should have waited at least 2-3 years before bringing out a weekly anime.

And the setting doesn't really lend itself well to high stakes plots because that's sort of the point of the peace they finally achieved after Shippuden. But then you get random shit like a recent episode where they reveal that one of the students had a secret jutsu performed upon her by her family that turned her into a something of a monster and it's like why the fuck would Naruto allow shit like that to be done to children in his village when one of the major themes has always been how horrible it was to have to send children to war.

I still watch it out of habit but it's a very mediocre show.

From what I remember from Naruto wasn't it that horrible shit was done to himself as a baby, hence he was an outcast that no one wanted anything to do with since he was basically housing a monster? Way to make the world a better place once you are in charge.

But Naruto isn't (normally) a hypocrite, the problem is that the writers don't care enough to think of the wider ramifications of shit they toss into a throwaway filler episode. Like Kosuke knowing all along that Naruto was Minato's son, even though that was supposed to be one of the most closely guarded secrets of the village.

Yeah, but that is the current state of the Naruto franchise: there is no oversight if the filler content fits into the wider canon of the world. It's par for the course for most of these successful long running series, where basically the author signs over his rights and control to some production committee - so they can all make more money.

I liked this week's Bofuri. The pets are clearly some kind of OP creature, but they just seem adorable for now. That said, the episode seemed to go really quick.

I'm surprised the eggs hatched that quick... I guess they'll need them for going against #6. Or maybe they'll encounter #1?

idk why, i had an inkling to watch robotech(macross), i watched it on tv and chinese dub in the 80s

they had a blu ray remaster a few years back... the 3d is atrocious!

heres a comparison

do you guys like traditional or youre cool with the new?

i mean the new cells are nice but when they switch to mecha/dogfights it's like some youtube amateur made it.

Ugh. I'm all for going back and cleaning it up. Some redraws are fine, but they went too far and that 3D looks awful.

I grew up watching Robotech as a kid and loved it, but never saw it in it's original incarnation as Macross. I'm pretty sure it's on Prime streaming. Might have to give it a watch since this is a slow season for me.

its so apparent when you see the vf1 transform to gerwalk aand then the battle scene when it goes to robo mode and blows up the zentradi, i don't know if theres just something "lost" or the 3d looks slower to me, sure it's crisp, but like crisp like a pig.

amazons jap is here

this is robotech english

That's because someone of Youtube amateur level made it. No, really.

You see, there is lots of heritage in Japan regarding traditional animation with old senpais giving their young kohais their proper on-the-job education, but 3D is a relatively new field where the master/apprentice relationship ingrained into the culture fails miserably. This is because a) the field is relatively new (around 30 years), b) is still rapidly evolving with increase in computational power and tools like motion capture and c) anime is done as cheap as possible, so talented 3D people leave for CG work in movies/series/commercials/music videos/games where they get paid more.

The only two studios I would trust pulling off convincing full 3D or 2D/3D compositing are (in my opinion): Ufotable (Kimetsu no Yaiba and Fate had both amazing 3D sakuga/compositiing) and Studio Orange (who were at bat just 2 times and had two homeruns).

Everyone else is playing catchup, all the while rumor has it that the people at Orange got poached after they won their VFX and CG World awards for HnK.

On a non-hentai subject, Weathering With You is playing near me for the next few nights, and was probably going to go see it later tonight. Only issue is, the dubbed version starts at 8:30pm, and the sub version doesn't start until 10:20pm.

Is "didn't sleep because subs>dubs" a valid excuse to call in sick?

I was surprised Funimation picked up Interspecies Reviewers, and figured something would go down after episode 3.

Despite that its still one of the funniest shows ever. The fairy brothel in the 2nd episode was hilarious. lol

so is interspecies reviewer actually hentai or just a really pervy comedy? Cause I kinda want to watch it if it's not just porn.
