Just got back from this year's Firestone Walker Velvet Merkin release - they had a tequila barrel aged version on tap. Holy crap, I hope they decide to bottle it at some point! For those that like Merkin, I think this year might actually be the best one yet so stock up if you see it.

San Diego is definitely making some good stuff, IPA's for sure. I think a lot of their success is owed to how much of a community they've built up there - so many of the breweries collaborate or share grains, hops, supplies, etc and just generally work at sharing their passion for making beer...
