That science 2.0article was pretty bare bones and half read like an opinion piece. The actual science study it links still found higher than normal mortality rates in North America for the western honey bee(High colony mortality of Apis mellifera is reported, especially in North America). The article also talks about diversification in pollinators outside the western honey bee.

Shitty interpretation of a science article is shitty. The honey bee collapse concern was always an American centered thing, which the article kind of confirms because growth was measured world wide

The article I linked is a shitty pop sci thing I agree, but the first sentence had a link to the study itself, thats where the good stuff was.

I agree with what youre saying though. The increase is not in North America.

Still, it does very effectively debunk the colony collapse narrative. The study discusses in detail why that was always false, being based on the wrong kind of data in the first place (overwintering deaths rather than a change in total colony census).

Western Honey Bee deaths are a bigger deal, though, because they're the Tom Brady of pollinating bees. So even if you have other bee species colonies increasing to make up the shortfall, you're basically relying on the Tim Tebows and Cutlers of bees.

That "town" that's listed in that article isn't even a town. It's a slave community that's basically built on what is now the levee of the MS River across from New Orleans. Gonna guess they float every storm they get. The ones even up as far as Baton Rouge have to be buried with a giant structure on top of them to keep them from floating up. Not all that uncommon the further south you get. That's why in New Orleans nobody is buried in the ground at all.

Looking at thier wiki the big claim to fame was they didn't have running water until the 1980's. Not exaclty suburbia.
