Summer 2017 Anime Thread

Check out Rick and Morty. It's an american cartoon, but not aimed at children. That's the biggest difference. While some anime is targeting children (Pokemon and the like), some is also aimed directly at 18+. Way more violence or sexuality. But then there's also the dumb shit that falls in between G & PG-13/R.

Batman: The Animated Series really was the high point of American cartoons for me. I grew up watching sat morning cartoons as a kid fucking running down to the couch each sat at 6am and watching till my mom started yelling at me to get the fuck off my ass and go outside at noon.

Batman was always the next level shit I looked forward too. It was the first "Mature" animation I ever watched. It was dark and Mark Hammel nailed the Joker. God I miss those days, felt like a simpler time before cellphones and instant rage at every fucking political or micro aggression. Fuck I feel old now.

My favorite episode of Batman was when The Riddler set up this trap to kill Batman with bombs. It was a pretty damn good episode. I really liked that one.

Riddler's Reform

Today has been a good day for anime. Hero Academia was good. I like that they're forcing the angry crazy fuck to work with All Might Jr.

Re Creator was also really good. I knew that the summon wouldn't stop her, mainly because there's still 2 episodes to go (as well as 3 specials). I still really enjoyed the episode.

Next up is Ballroom. This is another show that I look forward to every week. And I'm very pleased with that as well. Good Saturday!

So, dropped a couple last week. The UFO table sausage fest and Netsuzo trap. Took on 2 new shows instead. Ballroom and that long named one about the kids in the elite school where you get "points" for everything. From what I was hearing I thought Ballroom was going to be outrageously Sadris level faggotry gay like Yuri on Ice was. But nope. just a guy lusting after a girl who also learns to love dancing. So plenty of gayness to go around, just no dudes groping and proposing to each other like Yuri.

I feel like they did a good job of distilling all of the gayness in this show straight into the MC. Hes 10x the wussy faggot Yuri ever was, so maybe a little man-touching and pork cutlet bowls would do him some good. I want to punch his stupid face every time it focuses on him, only to have him say absolutely nothing.

And then punch whoever did the character designs, and show them what an eyelash is supposed to look like.

One of those 'once you see it' things. Shizuku looks almost exactly like Kyoko from Haikyuu!!

And yes, the MC is kind of useless. But, he did level up as a partner in the last episode, so maybe he will start getting better now. Looking like this wants to be a 2 season show, because there's no way it gets a decent resolution in 12-13 eps.

The resolution might be that he ends up with Shizuku as his dancing partner while Hyoudou is out with the injury?

Maybe, but that would be shitty and unsatisfying.

Ballroom has 24 eps lined up, so it'll be continuing through next season. I'm not super into it though, it was just on a list of stuff to try out when I was bored.

Speaking of bored though, I'm starting to get to the bottom half of that list where the questionable shows reside. Which of these do you guys think I should wade into next?

You haven't watched Re:Zero yet? Get on that asap. It's not inappropriate for kids because of sexual stuff, more for the graphic violence and deaths.
