Movie may have been dumb, who knows. But to cancel it? Come on, talk about setting a bad precedent. Just opens the doors for idiots in the future to mess with them because they know they will just back down.

Terrorists win. They should take all the dvds and parachute drop them all over N.K.

Well...Sony probably have so many skeletons in their closet, that think pulling out the movie, is going to save them.
but nothing is certain and who knows, maybe tomorrow there are more e-mails between sony execs, movie scripts,etc... surfing on the world wide web.

It also goes to show that too much pot leads to stupid decisions: this project should never have left the smoke filled room in which it was devised.
There are hundreds of more terrible movies released every year. Likelihood to offend should have absolutely no bearing on whether a movie is greenlit or not. Keyword: should.

I find it funny that North Korea decided to show their cyber-warfare hand over this this stupid movie.

Nah the brits still have balls

What's ballsy about that? Everyone makes fun of America now. It isn't like we were going to go invade England over them making a movie about the President being killed. Hell, for the rest of the world that is practically a Christmas miracle story.

That's nothing like this situation at all.

Now that the hackers have gotten what they want, I'll be curious to see if the leaks continue or not. I'm sure they still have a lot of embarrassing things on Sony they've yet to release. Perhaps they'll wait until Sony tries to release this movie on DVD.

The most unfortunate thing about this is that now that North Korea has tipped their hand in regards to cyber-warfare - and in a very public way - is that there are very likely going to be politicians using this as a reason to push for another SOPA and quite possibly get more support since this is something they can use it to scare people.

Governments are aware of what other governments are capable of and have been for years. The problem has always been the huge grey area with regards to espionage which is perfectly legal according to international law. Of course, the very same vulnerabilities that are used to spy can also be used to sabotage and destroy. North Korea is simply the first to exit the grey area and flat out attack an entity publicly, mixed with blackmail and terrorist threats.

Never going to watch this movie even if they release it later because of the cowardly behavior of Sony.

Well it was the movie theatres that pulled it for the most part. Not sony

They were planning on releasing it on Christmas Day?

Holy fucking christ. Szilia is 100% spot on. This never should have left the pot haze filled room that it was conceived in.
