Western game developers create to the lowest common denominator. You will never see them try to push any envelope because the risk for return is too high. It's all about the business.

Enemies don't destroy walls as far as I know. Haven't gotten past year 3 though so I don't know what lies ahead. They can bust down doors though.

Make sure you have 3 of the same type of table. You cant build things with mix and match material types. Your "any table(3)" is probably 2 stone and 1 wood or something.
