Havent played my cleric in a week or so, still at 42. Started an Iksar Necro for solo, low-man and between groups on my cleric. It's more fun than standing around and throwing a heal once in a while too. Necro name is Putride.

Trying to make money on my cleric 35 is hard. There does not seem to be a lot of target worth money on this server. I'm trying to save to buy Platinum Bars for my SolRo armor quests.

After two 3+ hours grind I managed to level up to 34 starting from 22. Also made enough money to buy the important spells I needed (24, 29, 34, 39). So I would say it pays to hang on.

Finally got a good group going without too much PvP to hinder it and people coming to keep group full for a few hours. Got my cleric from 22 to 28. Still struggling for money and wearing Patchwork armor from turning in CB belts last week... Had to de-guild to be able to group. Some people just...

Torn between healer or caster... always been front row, want to try something different. Cleric, Druid, Enchanter or Wizard... Anyway to know what the population looks like? Are there any shortage of one of those classes (probably not Druid if its like blue)?

Been watching people streaming P99 for a while during the holidays. Tempted to start playing again but my playtime is prolly not enough for P99. Red with its EXP bonus is prolly the best option out there. Would love a non-PvP server with classic only or with kunark max. Anyone if P99 owners are...

Why all the Emulated EQ servers if EQ is free to play?

Imagine if they had support from SoE... 15 years old MMO veteran here, played a ton of them and also spent quite a lot of time on emulated/private servers. While a lot of servers are managed by not so great staff, some have very solid team of dev/coders/scripters and come up with brilliant...

I thought history served to learn from our mistakes and not to repeat them... Brad already shown his skills in managing a project like the rise of a game company. I'm not sure why the KS disaster is surprising to anyone. I dont think we will ever see a niche MMO (like one catered to people on...

Tokens as a mean to ensure you get something out of running a dungeon/raid 60 times is somewhat understandable, but DDO system of picking a loot from the dungeon/raid drop table after 20 completion made more sense to me. I think I still prefer EQ's total randomness even if it's frustrating...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Vanguard, outside of the in-game issues that could have been worked on, suffered from bad timing IMO. Players were tired of these old mechanics and, more importantly, were busy trying the new mechanics that WoW was offering. Like many said, vanilla WoW was good and it took a few more years of...

Servers do not need to have 10k ppl population. If you set the threshold lower you can have contested content.

That's why I would like to see a game focus on a smaller world but making it evolve in time with patches and expansions. If you only enlarge the world with each expansions you end up having to introduce fast travel. Would be interesting to see a game 10 years old still maintaining their original...

Outside of an item granted to you by gods or other hugely powerful beings, it really does not make sense to me to have binding gear. I also prefer endgame encounters dropping materials for crafted gear (even if crafters are NPCs in a game without crafting for players).

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

It's something that has been missing in MMOs mostly because of the "everything binds to character" plague that hit a while ago. To me, items should be rarer, with a purpose (instead of having random stats) and have a life cycle where they get worned out (after a long period, months IRL, could be...

I also love the idea of having high and low level players interracting together to trade/sell/buy item, request buffs, pass-by in a zone where mobs have a big level range or saving each other asses from time to time.

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Someone mentionned automation systems of FF10/12 and it spawned something in my mind. I wonder if it would work, because that could change the gameplay of support/healer classes. Think of a simple combat system driven by auto-attack(s) (and possibly an auto-heal function for healers) then add an...

    EQ Never

To me, EQ-like games are fun because you basically log in without knowing exactly what you will do. It's an alternate world you live in. You go where your friends are or where you feel like going. WoW-like games always ended up like chores you log in to cap your points/tokens or to raid the...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

I always hated that (even when the auto attack damage percentage was higher) since it creates a huge gap between good and bad people (and the frustration of being grouped with unskilled players). In EQ a rogue was doing as much damage as his gear allowed (unless they stopped back-stabbing...)...

    EQ Never

Was it not the other way around, they made normal more accessible to casual players (so they could see the designed content/storyline) and added heroic to migrate the old "normal" mode for those that wanted a challenge? EQ raiding "difficulty" was not the content itself, it was what was...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

MMOs are immersive games and every decision to break away from that immersive feeling, even for good quality of life reasons, ended up worsening the game for me. In EQ we saw a lot of that with: moving from real-life-like open markets in EC to level one naked AFK toons in Bazaar, user based fast...

    EQ Never

To me, the only way that could happen (EQ or anything else) would be to provide players with a wide variety of very different rulesets to appeal every kind of gamer. Some for solo gameplay, other for massive raiding, some with very light penalties, others with harsh ones. Basically, make a...

    Is the MMO Market imploding?

Niche is the way to go, or so it seems these days, but most fail to see the possibility of having a game with different cores. What the genre needs is a game that has a versatile engine to offer a wide range of different rulesets instead of the boring three we always get. Give those who just...

This is exactly what I have planned, level GLD and MRD to have both available should one be more useful than the other for each event/dungeon/raid. Then should one be completely useless you have the other to fall back to until they balance them. From looking at skills, PLD seems the clear winner...

I'm not sure jobs are "required". You could stay Archer and mix in some +DMG moves from Lancer/Pugilist/etc. and basically be a Ranger... Of course people will try to convince you, but you can show them the finger. Jobs only offer a niche with a defined role or some special moves unavailable...

    Well, now what?

For years now the MMO community has been talking about a "next-gen" MMO. A game that will bring that gaming genre to a new level. Game promoters even use the term in their marketing pitch. People have different opinion about what makes a game "next-gen", a core feature, a subscription model, a...
